Here is the good news: The state of Maryland will be paying unemployment benefits to furloughed employees and Kol Torah will be hosting a open beis medrash for all that are interested. 2 items to keep in mind: If the federal government issues back pay for the furlough you will need to pay back all unemployment benefits to the state of Maryland. State unemployment benefits are also counted as taxable income.
