Text of the above letter

Erev Shabbos, Parshas Bamidbar 5776

To our Dear Community Members,

We are privileged to live in a beautiful community of Torah and Chesed. But we must be aware and ever vigilant of our surroundings. Crime is an unfortunate reality with which we must contend. City and County police work hard to protect the citizens of our community day and night. Communal organizations like Northwest Citizens Patrol (NWCP0 and Shomrim are here to be the eyes and ears of our residents.

If you are the victim of a crime and there is a concern that the criminals involved pose a potential danger to others, it is imperative that you call 911 and Shomrim (410.358.9999) immediately. This includes Shabbos and Yom Tov

Any situation of even the slightest potential of danger to life (safeyk sakanos nefashos) must be reported immediately to enable the Police to respond and Shomrim to monitor the situation. Waiting to report a crime can put other members of the community at risk and in harm’s way.

We thank you in advance for your assistance in keeping our community safe.

Wishing our entire Community a Gut Shabbos,

Rabbi Yaakov Hopfer

President, Vaad HaRabbonim
