The Michael Levin Base’s new facility

In order to better cater to the needs of a growing number of participants, The Michael Levin Base (MLB) has moved to a new facility on Eliyahu Mani Street near the Machane Yehuda Market in Yerushalayim.

In February, The MLB will celebrate its 3rd anniversary. Having outgrown the current location, MLB needed a larger space to keep up with its increasing family of Lone Soldiers, Bnot Sherut, and support the international volunteer young people after their service. The Base hopes to connect the three communities of young people to create a support network for them and their families. MLB is proud to announce they plan to carry out Michael Levin's z"l wish to the next level by expanding on his dream so no lone solider is ever alone.

The MLB was able to locate a suitable space around the corner from the current location. It was essential to stay in the center of town and even more importantly, in the Shuk area where so many Lone Soldiers and Lone B’not Sherut live and have easy access to transportation.

Besides more space to host Shabbat and Yom Tov meals, there is a small area outside to install a BBQ grill! Plus a ramp entrance from ground level makes the new main room not only double in size of the current location but much more accessible.

In the past three years, over 1,800 Lone Soldiers and lone Bnot Sherut have been welcomed in MLB and helped - even with all the strict Covid closings and restrictions the first year.

The public is to be invited to the official Mezuzah hanging ceremony in February.

The Michael Levin Base was formed in 2020 by volunteers and professionals with vast experience working with the Lone Soldier community, MLB:

A for-rent sign went up near the Machane Yehuda Market with Michael Levin Base on HaDekel Street.

But do not worry, the new better and larger location has been found and renovations are well under way.

Those overcrowded Shabbat meals will have more space next month.
