Amid the omicron variant, administration will begin this year’s town hall meetings virtually

TOWSON, MD — Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski today announced his fourth annual series of signature town hall meetings to hear from constituents about their ideas and priorities for the County’s FY23 budget.

Seven meetings, one for each Council district, will provide a forum for public discussion focused on future budget priorities and ensure that community members have the opportunity to provide input into the budget planning process.

“Creating the accountable, responsive government that the people of Baltimore County deserve requires hearing directly from the residents we serve,” said Olszewski. “I’m proud that we’ve made Baltimore County government more open than ever before and I look forward to our continued engagement of stakeholders in every community as we continue building a better Baltimore County together.”

From 2016-2017, only two people testified on Baltimore County’s budget.

In 2018, during his first year in office, Olszewski held the inaugural series of budget town hall meetings where over 2,000 residents attended, with hundreds sharing their priorities for the future of Baltimore County.

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Olszewski administration has continued to hold the annual town hall meeting serieshosting virtual meetings to promote the safety and wellbeing of residents.

Amid the concerning spike of the omicron variant, the Olszewski administration will begin this year’s town hall meetings virtually. Based on public health metrics, in-person options may be announced in the coming weeks.
