Strong thunderstorms may hit before a cold front Monday in Maryland, according to the National Weather Service. Severe weather was projected to hit late Monday afternoon through evening.

The storms could cause damaging wind gusts and an isolated tornado, forecasters advised.

In addition, the middle Chesapeake Bay and nearby waters are under a gale warning Tuesday afternoon and evening due to the potential for strong winds.
