Baltimore, MD - May 4, 2021 - From when we received the tragic news of the murder of Ephraim Gordon on Sunday around midnight until now, we have been working with the family of the victim, witnesses, and law enforcement.  Throughout this time, we have received many calls and e-mails from concerned members of the community.  We want the community to know that we are continuing our efforts in not only ensuring the murderer is apprehended and prosecuted, but to ensure such a tragedy never happens again.

There have been many unconfirmed rumors about why Ephraim was killed.  The evidence at this time only suggests this is a random robbery that went very wrong and led to this tragedy.

The Baltimore Police Department homicide detectives and the State’s Attorney’s Office have been working diligently and collecting all evidence to lead to the apprehension of the murderer.  We want to thank them for their hard work and commitment to solving this homicide.

The family has set up a fund to cover all funeral-related expenses. Additionally, the family will be using additional funds raised to contribute towards a reward for the apprehension of a suspect.

In the coming days, more information and flyers will be distributed here on Baltimore Jewish Life (BJL), on our social media accounts and via email. Please share that information as far and wide as possible.

Thank you to all those who have contributed.  We are looking forward to being able to release  information about a suspect and their apprehension.

We want to be very clear: we will not tolerate violent crime. We will not tolerate murders. We will not tolerate our constituents feeling unsafe every single day.  We have said from day one that safety is our top priority and that has not changed.

May Ephraim’s neshama have an Aliyah and may his family be comforted.
