The Queen led the nation in a minute of silence for her late husband ahead of his funeral and burial at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.

The 94-year-old monarch was at the chapel with other senior members of the royal family as the coffin carrying the prince arrived on a bespoke Land Rover which he designed himself.

A military gun was fired to signal the start of the solemn tribute, which was observed in shops, railway stations and at sporting events across the country. Read more at i24
