YouTube, the video-hosting giant owned by Google, announced Tuesday that it was extending the ban on former President Donald Trump's channel.

As opposed to the previous extensions, the one announced Tuesday did not include any references to a specific timetable, thus effectively providing for an indefinite ban.

In a statement cited by Politico, the company's spokesperson Ivy Choi claimed the latest extension was approved "in light of concerns about the ongoing potential for violence."

YouTube first announced a week-long suspension for the ex-president's channel, which had over 2 million subscribers, in mid-January in the wake of the Capitol unrest on January 6. Read more at i24
