Moments prior to US President Joe Biden stepping into office, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed an agreement with the outgoing Trump administration to procure 50 F-35 fighter jets and up to 18 armed drones, news agency Reuters reported on Wednesday.

A source familiar with the subject told Reuters that the deal was struck about an hour before Biden’s swearing-in ceremony.
