Move comes after Israeli authorities roll out mandatory quarantine for Israelis arriving from UAE

The United Arab Emirates has suspended the visa waiver agreement with Israel, initially set to come into effect in February, until July 1, 2021, Israel's Foreign Ministry announced Monday.

According to its press release, the move was justified by public health concerns and efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus.

Until July 2021, Israelis looking to travel to the UAE will have to obtain entry visas, unless notified otherwise. The same rules apply to Emiratis planning a trip to Israel.

The ministry urged those seeking a trip to the UAE to consult travel agents and airlines on how to obtain visas. Read more at i24
