Gov. Larry Hogan said coronavirus vaccinations will expand to include ages 70 and up as well as teachers and those in care facilities.

MARYLAND — Maryland is moving into phase 1B of its COVID-19 vaccination plan, adding school staff, care facility residents and the elderly to the list of those who can receive shots to ward off the coronavirus, Gov. Larry Hogan said Thursday evening.

Starting Monday, these Marylanders will be eligible to get the shot: anybody older than 75; anyone who lives in assisted living, group homes or other congregate facilities; and kindergarten-12th grade teachers and support staff, along with child-care providers.

Maryland is now activating phase 1B of its covid-19 vaccination plan, Hogan said. The state has also activated part B of its federal partnership with national pharmacy chains CVS and Walgreens. A pilot program with Walmart and Giant begins Jan. 25 at 22 Giant locations, three Martin's locations in Washington and Allegany counties), and 10 Walmart locations in western Maryhland and the Eastern Shore.
