Joseph Graham Jr. had spent the night with a friend at one of the homes destroyed in Monday's explosion after a party Sunday night. His grandmothers' emotions are cycling between extreme sadness, anger and confusion.

As reported by WBAL-TV 11, Graham's grandmothers are leaning on each other, under the weight of unimaginable grief.

"He had so many dreams and aspirations. It's just heartbreaking,” said Cynthia Young, Graham’s grandmother.

“He did everything right, everything right. That's why it's such a shock. Everything right,” said Marlene Graham, his other grandmother.

Graham’s body was pulled from the rubble on Labyrinth Road early Tuesday morning after his grandmothers say the family's numerous attempts to reach him on his cellphone after the explosion went unanswered.

The 20-year-old was majoring in engineering at Morgan State University.

Young and Marlene Graham say he was a 4.0 student and recently achieved his dream of being an entrepreneur when he launched a clothing line called Taste of Plate, focused on living a positive lifestyle.

“He was such an exceptional young man. He was gracious kind, loving, charming -- all the wonderful attributes of a person – smart, so intelligent,” Young said.

“Everybody loved that boy, everyone. I'll tell you, everybody loved Joseph. He did not have an enemy in the world,” said Marlene Graham.

Family members say they are determined to find out why and how the explosion happened.
