Baltimore, MD - May 14, 2019 - Nearly 200 alumni came together for YKY/TI’s Alumni Event for mesivta and 1st and 2nd year beis medrash-aged bochurim on Sunday, April 28th.  The event was a huge success and demonstrated the Cheder’s care and concern for their talmidim even after they’ve graduated.

The beautiful event took place at Bnai Jacob Shaarei Zion where alumni were treated to an elegant fleishig and sushi buffet, while reconnecting with their friends and former rebbeim. The atmosphere was full of warmth and camaraderie, and strengthened everyone’s kesher. Needless to say, rebbeim experienced tremendous nachas seeing their talmidim develop into fine bnei Torah.

Rabbi Daniel Skurnik, YKY/TI's Director of Development, welcomed everyone and shared a heart-warming Pesach story of ahavas Yisroel, referencing how we begin the Seder with “kol dichfin” showing care and concern to fellow Yidden. He went on to say that the alumni event is also a way that the Cheder expresses its ongoing care and concern for its talmidim. Before closing the program, Rabbi Skurnik drew the winners of a special alumni raffle.

Parents commented that their sons felt great seeing so many of friends and rebbeim, and were invigorated to return to yeshiva after a long bein hazmanim. At the event itself, alumni were requesting that additional events take place in the future.

Rav Yitzchok Sternhell’s, zt’l, 39th yahrtzeit took place later that week, the 28th of Nissan, and it is surely a zechus for his neshama that after 66 years since founding the Cheder, it continues to nurture and produce fine young men who will, bez’H, take their place in Klal Yisroel and be a source of nachas to their families and Hashem.
