BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — The National Weather Service canceled the winter weather advisory for much of Baltimore County on Saturday, Jan. 19. Originally, a wintry mix was expected to make travel difficult.

But on Saturday afternoon, forecasters tweaked the projections. A light snow may fall after 5 p.m., with rain arriving after 8 p.m., weather officials said.

The concern over travel conditions for Saturday had evaporated for much of Baltimore County, except northern and western areas.

Carroll County and parts of Baltimore County — Cockeysville, Lutherville-Timonium and Owings Mills — are under a winter weather advisory until 6 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20. In those areas, up to 2 inches of snow may accumulate, and up to 0.1 inch ice is expected. Drivers should anticipate slippery conditions.

Across the region, weather officials issued a hazardous weather outlook for Sunday due to the potential for bitterly cold wind chills through Monday morning. It is expected to feel like it is below-zero Sunday night into Monday in central Maryland. In addition, there is potential in the second half of the week for flooding due to rain and snow melt, according to weather officials.

Here is the updated forecast for Baltimore County (except Owings Mills, Lutherville-Timonium and Cockeysville) from the National Weather Service:

Saturday: Snow, mainly after 5 p.m. High near 35. East wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday night: Snow before 8 p.m., then rain or freezing rain between 8 and 11 p.m., then rain after 11 p.m. Low around 33. East wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday: Rain, mainly before 11 a.m. Temperature falling to around 25 by 5 p.m. Breezy, with a northwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 7. Wind chill values as low as -11. Blustery, with a northwest wind 18 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph.

MLK Day: Sunny, with a high near 17. Blustery, with a northwest wind 17 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Monday Night: Clear, with a low around 8.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 31.

Tuesday Night: A chance of rain, snow, and freezing rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 47. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
