A winter storm warning has been issued for Garrett, Allegany and Washington counties. A winter weather advisory has been issued for Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's counties and Baltimore City.

Colder air will settle in for the middle of the week, as high temperatures Thursday will only be in the 30s.

Meteorologist Ava Marie said snow will start to build in around 7 a.m. Thursday in the Baltimore Metro area, making for some potential trouble spots on the roadways. A wintry precipitation of sleet and freezing rain could stick around through 3 p.m. The total accumulation will be anywhere from a slushy coating up to 2 - 4 inches in Carroll and northern Baltimore counties.

Temperatures will be below freezing, so a bigger problem might be ice accumulation near the Pennsylvania line and in the mountains.

In Western Maryland, there's a winter storm watch in effect late Wednesday night into Thursday night for the potential of icy conditions.
