Upper school math teacher for students with learning differences

Sulam

Sulam, an inclusion education program for students with learning differences in the Greater Washington area, seeks a dynamic High School Mathematics teacher who exhibits a deep passion for teaching, and great enthusiasm for working with high school students of differing mathematical strengths. Responsibilities will include teaching in a small group setting in some combination of math courses, in any given year (e.g., Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, etc.), pre/post teaching in a 1:1 setting, liaising with Math general educators, creating individual educational goals for students and monitoring their progress on a regular basis.

About the Position

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to inspire and support students. In addition, the candidate will enjoy the process of working collaboratively with a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about the social and emotional welfare of their students and working with them to gain skills in math, and in life, that will ultimately enable them to be happy and productive young adults.

The ideal candidate will also:

·Have a demonstrated track record of excellent teaching.
·Have a Master's degree in Special Education (preferred).
·Be familiar with an IEP, or other individual student plan.
·Know how to write individual educational goals and objective, or demonstrate a desire and ability to learn.
·Maintain ongoing data on student performance, to be used to evaluate and report progress.
·Have strong interpersonal and communication skills – parent and internal communications.
·Use our web-based Student Information System to write comments, report cards and post assignments.
·Demonstrate expertise in mathematics and the ability to teach a variety of courses.
·Exhibit a deep passion for teaching and great enthusiasm for working with students of multiple ages and differing strengths.
·Display excellent classroom management skills.
·Enjoy and be committed to professional development and collaboration with colleagues.

Location: Rockville, MD
Salary: commensurate with experience
