Baltimore, MD - Aug. 29, 2024 - (FOX45) Marilyn Mosby, the former Baltimore City State’s Attorney, attended a "thank you barbecue" in Clarksville, Maryland, over the weekend, despite being court-ordered to stay at her Baltimore home following federal perjury and mortgage fraud convictions. Mosby is required to stay at her home, with exceptions for childcare, medical appointments, court dates, employment, and legal meetings, with any other travel requiring pre-approval. There is no indication in the federal court system that Mosby sought or received permission to attend the event, leaving it unclear whether her attendance was authorized. Additionally, Mosby’s legal team is currently seeking court approval for her to travel to California for job-related training at the end of September, a request that is still pending.
There is nothing filed with the online federal court system indicating Mosby sought permission to attend the event – held in Howard County. A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland noted that Mosby is not required to “consult with the government in advance on routine employment/childcare requests.” It’s unclear if the government considers this party in question to fall within one of those categories.
Mosby's probation agent is Rachel Snyder, and when reached by phone Thursday, Snyder said she could not take the phone call and hung up. A message was left with the director of operations to seek clarity.
Meanwhile, Mosby’s legal team is seeking permission from the court to allow her to travel to California at the end of September to attend what they describe as required training and orientation for a potential job. The details of Mosby’s job offer have been provided to the U.S. Attorney’s Office and probation, according to Mosby’s attorneys. While the company is headquartered in California, Mosby would be positioned in Maryland and “will be required to travel to various locations within the District of Maryland on a routine basis,” according to the court filing....
