The incident occurred on the outer loop near Providence Road shortly before 9 am on Wednesday. It began when a Toyota, operated by 62-year-old Karl Heinzman, rear-ended a Kia, setting off a chain reaction collision that involved a Maryland State Police vehicle. The collision resulted in the Toyota catching fire. Both the state trooper and the Kia driver were transported to the hospital, with their current conditions remaining unknown. The crash necessitated the temporary closure of one lane on the outer loop.
