Baltimore, MD - Nov. 12, 2023 - Baltimore community member Jonathan Stern, who travels frequently on the MARC train system, has offered these valuable tips for those who choose to travel to the rally by MARC train

General Info about using MARC Train and DC Metro to get to the Rally:

  • TICKETS - Tickets for MARC can and should be purchased using the MARC / CharmPass app. Much easier than purchasing at MARC Station.
  • LOCAL MARC STATIONS - MARC Trains leave from Penn Station, West Baltimore, Halethorpe and BWI. Cost is $8-9 one way. Trip from Penn Station to DC Union Station is one hour and 40 minutes from BWI.
  • DEPARTURE SCHEDULE - Go to: https://www.mta.maryland.gov/schedule/timetable/marc-penn to check train schedules. Note that MARC Trains can be delayed and electronic signs at the stations will update travellers.
  • PARKING - West Baltimore and Halethorpe have free parking, but might fill up due to the high number of travellers. Penn and BWI parking have a cost, and may also fill up quickly.
  • TAKE UBER / GET A RIDE - It might be easier to take an Uber or get a ride to Penn Station (or other stations).
  • DC METRO - Once MARC Trains arrive at DC Union Station, take the DC Metro Red Line to Metro Center station, and then transfer to the Orange, Blue or Silver lines to get to the Smithsonian Metro stop, where the entrance to the Rally is. It should take 20-25 minutes, but if there are throngs of people, then it might be 40+ minutes.
  • WALKING FROM UNION STATION - Alternatively, it's a 35-minute walk from DC Union Station to the rally entrance, near the Smithsonian Metro station. Or, if you take the DC Red Line to Metro Center, you can walk 15 minutes from there to the Rally entrance, rather than transfer.
  • WEATHER - The weather is supposed to be mid-50's and partly cloudy, so amenable for walking.
