Baltimore, MD - Aug. 15, 2023  - During the pandemic, processing of E-ZPass tolls was paused, leading to a backlog of millions of toll transactions in Maryland, reports WMAR2News. The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) has recently cleared this backlog, but a specific subset of transactions underwent an additional review before being invoiced to customers. This delay resulted in drivers receiving large packets of overdue toll notices, some dating back several months. Drivers are expected to pay the accumulated toll amounts within a month or face significant penalties. The MDTA had previously granted a grace period for payments after receiving pushback from legislators. They advise customers to pay their tolls promptly and offer various ways for them to seek assistance or check the status of their toll transactions.
