Baltimore, MD -  Aug. 4, 2023 - Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott issued the following statement in conjunction with Chair of the Rules and Legislative Oversight Committee Councilman Isaac "Yitzy" Schleifer (District 5) on rescheduling the confirmation hearing for Acting Police Commissioner Richard Worley.

“In order to ensure the voices of Baltimore’s residents are front and center, the decision has been made to postpone Acting Police Commissioner Richard Worley’s confirmation hearing until after all of the planned community engagement meetings have taken place. We know that these meetings will provide Baltimoreans with the same insight we have already been fortunate to have into Acting Commissioner Worley’s vision, leadership, and deep appreciation for the communities he will serve. We both look forward to advancing Acting Commissioner Worley’s confirmation once those meetings are completed and to finally have him assume his role as Baltimore’s next permanent Police Commissioner.”

The planned schedule includes community engagement meetings including one virtual meeting, and two Telephone Town Halls, with one specifically catered to older adults.
