Special counsel Jack Smith's team is continuing to investigate a tumultuous Oval Office meeting that took place in the final days of Donald Trump's presidency. Several witnesses have been asked about the meeting, which occurred approximately six weeks after Trump lost the 2020 election. In the meeting, Trump reportedly considered various proposals to maintain his power, despite objections from his White House counsel. Notably, Rudy Giuliani, Trump's lawyer, has voluntarily discussed the meeting with investigators. The prosecutors have shown particular interest in three outside advisers: Sidney Powell, Michael Flynn, and Patrick Byrne, who all attended the meeting. The lawyers for the involved parties have largely declined to comment.
