Baltimore, MD – May 17, 2023 – On May 6, BJL  posted an Urgent Call to Action for the alarming spike in accidents at the intersection of Reisterstown & Old Court Road.

Today, community member Aryeh Goetz received the following response, letting him know the issue has hopefully been resolved:

Dear Aryeh Goetz,

"Thank you for contacting the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) regarding traffic safety at the intersection of MD 140 and Old Court Rd, in Baltimore County.  The MDOT SHA appreciates your interest in traffic safety and the opportunity to investigate your request.

Our investigation revealed that a misalignment of the left turn camera detection was causing the signal timing issue. We have since corrected the issue and the intersection is again cycling correctly.

Thank you again for your interest in traffic safety along MD 140.  We appreciate your concerns about safety along this roadway.  If you have any additional questions or wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact me at 410-229-2390 or at knyangwechi.consultant@mdot.maryland.gov ."

Sincerely,

Kevin Nyangwechi, PE
