New legislation could limit the use of facial recognition technology in Baltimore City.

City Councilman Kristerfer Burnett, D-District 8, introduced two bills that would regulate the use of the technology in order to protect people's privacy and promote transparency and accountability.

One bill Burnett proposed would create a "community advisory commission" on surveillance. It would require the Baltimore City Police Department to get Baltimore City Council approval before purchasing any new surveillance equipment.
