Chicago, IL. - Oct. 30, 2024 - Following the heinous shooting of a community member on his way to shul on Saturday morning, Agudath Israel of Illinois (AIOI) hosted a press conference calling upon the appropriate parties to address community concerns, to be transparent, and to prosecute the offender to the fullest extent. The community has been justifiably frustrated over how the attack was covered by the media as well, and as such, another goal was to reset the narrative. Lastly, AIOI sought to highlight that the attack once again demonstrated that Orthodox Jews are significantly more vulnerable to antisemitic violence. The Chicago Rabbinical Council and ADL (Anti-Defamation League) Midwest along with other Jewish organizations participated as well.

Towson, MD -Oct. 30, 2024 - Homicide detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department have obtained an arrest warrant for 16-year-old Brayan Rodriguez in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old. On Sunday, October 27, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1700 block of Reisterstown Road. Upon arrival, they found the injured victim at the scene. The 16-year-old was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating Rodriguez.
If located, please call 911 and do not approach him. Rodriguez is known to frequent the Pikesville area.

Hezbollah's new secretary-general, Naim Qassem, said that he intended to follow in the footsteps of the terror organization's previous leader, Hassan Nasrallah, during his first televised speech as leader of the terror organization on Wednesday.
During his speech, he referred to the drone attack on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Caesarea home, saying, "Netanyahu survived this time, perhaps his time hasn't yet come."
"My agenda is to follow Nasrallah's agenda in all aspects," Qassem said. "We will continue our war plan."
He continued, "We don't fight on behalf of anyone or for anyone's project, we fight for Lebanon. Iran supports our project and doesn't ask anything of us."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is looking to postpone the wedding of his son, Avner, due to security considerations, KAN News reported on Wednesday.
KAN claimed that Netanyahu has stated behind closed doors that the wedding should be postponed as it may risk the safety of those in attendance.
According to the report, the wedding is planned for November 26 at the Ronit Farm near Tel Aviv.
Kan also reported on Monday that Netanyahu has expressed concerns regarding the drone threat, reportedly saying, "For missiles, we have good detection and interception systems."
According to the report, Netanyahu asked why the Knesset was convening in its usual location.

Israel Air Force jets eliminated Mustafa Ahmad Shahadi, Hezbollah's Radwan force deputy commander, in a strike in Nabatieh in Lebanon, the military said on Wednesday.
The strike was carried out based on precise intelligence information, the IDF added.
Shahadi was responsible for conducting terror activities against Israel, the military said.

US mediators are working on a proposal to halt hostilities between Israel and Lebanese terror group Hezbollah, starting with a 60-day ceasefire, two sources say.
The sources — a person briefed on the talks and a senior diplomat working on Lebanon — tell Reuters the two-month period would be used to finalize full implementation of the largely unenforced United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, adopted in 2006 to keep southern Lebanon free of arms outside state control.
Resolution 1701 has been the cornerstone of talks to end the past year of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, which erupted in parallel with the war in Gaza and has dramatically escalated over the last five weeks.

The burning of ballot boxes in Oregon and Washington State is believed to be the work of one or more anti-Israel protesters after a note was found that read, “ALL DROP BOXES WILL BURN. FREE GAZA," the New York Post reported.
The arson of the ballot boxes in Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon occurred at around 3-4 a.m. Monday morning local time. Fire suppressant systems extinguished the flames at the Portland site, but hundreds of ballots were destroyed at the Vancouver site.
In addition, the New York Times reported that the words “Free Gaza” were found on three incendiary devices used in the attacks on the ballot boxes.

Baltimore, MD - Oct. 30, 2024 - As a sprawling liability case takes shape following the deadly collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge in March, the owner and manager of the container ship Dali are seeking to deflect responsibility and cast blame elsewhere.
Attorneys for Singapore-based Grace Ocean Private Limited and Synergy Marine Group argued in court Tuesday that Maryland state officials should have better protected the bridge against ship strikes. They also raised questions about whether the shipbuilder installed faulty electrical equipment that caused the Dali to lose power as it approached the bridge.

Baltimore, MD - Oct. 30, 2024 - State officials are looking to give out $3 million for school systems to buy electric school buses.
It's part of the new Electric School Bus Grant Program, seeking to revamp Maryland's fleet of diesel-powered buses.
Only about 5 percent of Maryland's school buses are currently electric-powered.
The state has 8,000-10,000 total school buses (according to a 2023 report), and roughly 400 are electric, said MDE.
The Maryland Department of the Environment announced that it's now accepting applications for the $3 million in state grants. MDE is also now taking public comments for a program to give an additional $17 million for electric school buses.
