Last year, October 7 joined the short list of those dates which will live in infamy and is thus being noted and commemorated by Jews and non-Jews alike, in America, Israel, and across the world. Shamefully, some are celebrating this dark anniversary.  A few weeks ago, in conversation with a government official, I expressed concern at the characterization of campus unrest as an academic debate that has gotten out of hand when it is clearly a conflict driven by forces with deep malice and destructive intent towards Israel, the Jewish people, and American values. The official listened, explained that his work involved encouraging dialogue without taking sides, and then shared the following: “I understand what you are saying. I was on a university campus on October 8 and I saw two ...
A surface-to-surface missile fired from Yemen caused Red Alert sirens to be activated throughout central Israel on Monday evening. Sirens were activated in Lod, Ramle, Petah Tikva, Ben Gurion Airport, Rishon Letzion, and many other localities as a result of the missile attack. The missile was intercepted by Israel's air defense systems. There are currently no reports of injuries. Echoes of explosions were heard in Jerusalem as well as much of central Israel. The attack comes on the first anniversary of the Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023, when 1,200 people were murdered and 250 taken captive to Gaza by Hamas terrorists.

It was the worst attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust, but unlike the Holocaust, we fight back. I want to thank you both for your stellar support for Israel throughout the war." US Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT): "Thank you, Mr. Prime Minister. Baltimore, MD - Oct. 7, 2024  -  The average gas prices in Baltimore dropped 1.6 cents a gallon in the past week, averaging $3.22 a gallon today, according to GasBuddy's recent survey. Prices in Baltimore are 8.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 12.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel is unchanged from a week ago and stands at $3.54 per gallon.
"While the national average dipped slightly in the last week, Iran's attack on Israel has at least temporarily caused oil prices to surge to the highest level in months, which could cause the declines to cease for now and could lead to a rise in gas prices for many Americans," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "In additi...

Questions are being raised in Iran regarding the whereabouts of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force commander Esmail Ghaani, who according to The New York Times traveled to Beirut last week to meet with Hezbollah officials. Ghaani was last seen in public visiting Hezbollah’s offices in Tehran last week. The concerns in Tehran come amid reports in Israeli and Arab media on Saturday that Ghaani may have been wounded or killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut. His predecessor Qassem Soleimani was killed by an American drone strike in Iraq in 2020. According to three Iranian officials cited by The New York Times, Ghaani, 67, was in the Lebanese capital to assist Hezbollah following a series of devastating Israeli attacks that have disrupted its chain of c...
Flights from all Iran’s airports have been canceled from 9 p.m. today until 6 a.m. tomorrow local time, Iran’s Mehr news agency says, citing a spokesperson for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization. A notice to pilots, or NOTAM, sent out by Iranian authorities confirms the closure, while carving out exceptions for “emergency flight, ferry flights and state aircraft.” Another state-run outlet, IRNA, cites “operational restrictions” for the closure, which may relate to an expected Israeli counterattack following an Iranian missile assault last week.

Baltimore, MD - Oct. 6, 2024  - Baltimore voters in November will get to decide whether city council districts should be reduced from 14 to 8, otherwise known as Question H. The group, PEACE Baltimore, who received enough signatures to get Question H added to the ballot, said on its website that the reduction of the districts would save “significant taxpayers dollars and resources for Baltimore City.” However, some are not for the reduction of districts. One of those opposed is Baltimore City Councilman Zeke Cohen. Cohen spoke with WBAL’s Jayne Miller in September. When asked about the ballot question, he said it could throw the city council into chaos. “I think it’s a terrible idea. I think Baltimore is finally seeing some real gains on pub...
Each Friday, in my sixth-grade class at Yeshiva K’tana of Waterbury, the boys have an opportunity to share Hashgacha Pratis stories. It starts slowly at the beginning of the school year, with one or two boys sharing their weekly stories. However, as the year goes on, the boys look forward to their opportunity to shine in front of the room and share their stories with the class. Besides training the boys to see Hashgacha Pratis in their lives, this gives them an opportunity to feel comfortable addressing a crowd, a skill they will hopefully use in the future. Over the years, there have been hundreds of stories shared. For example, one boy related: “My father generally doesn’t do the shopping, but after Pesach, he went to stock up on groceries. He came home with many thing...

French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday urged a halt to deliveries of arms to Israel that can be used in its war against Hamas in Gaza, drawing a furious reaction from Jerusalem. “I think that today, the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop delivering weapons to fight in Gaza,” Macron told broadcaster France Inter. “France is not delivering any,” he added during the interview recorded early this week. Macron reiterated his concern over the conflict in Gaza that is continuing despite repeated calls for a ceasefire. “I think we are not being heard,” he said. “I think it is a mistake, including for the security of Israel,” he said, adding that the conflict was leading to “hatred.” Macron also sai...
