Recently, our downstairs storage room went dark. All four lights – those long fluorescent tube lights – went out. To try and resolve this, I did what most people would do and headed on over to the local Home Depot store.I walked straight to the back left of the store where I knew they had electric supplies and lights. I saw so many lights: round lights, square lights, big lights, small lights (sounds like the beginning of a Dr. Seuss book!). Then, excitedly, I found the aisle that carried these fluorescent tub lights. I needed the six-foot (72 inch) lights for my basement and started to look at the various size options in stock. 2. If you have trash pickup on Yom Tov, take your cans to the curb before Yom Tov! Note that trash cans cannot be moved to the curb once Yom Tov begins, so if needed, empty cans should be moved to the curb beforehand so that they can be filled. All cans taken to curb should remain there until after Shabbos.

The Israel Police has revealed that about a month ago it foiled an attempt to carry out a terrorist attack in one of the cities in the south of the country.
An illegal resident, a 17-year-old from Hebron, was arrested on suspicion of intending to carry out a stabbing attack in a synagogue after the police received intelligence information to that effect.
The police began a search of the area, located the suspect who attempted to flee, and arrested him after a foot chase and the firing of shots into the air by the police.

The city of Modi'in Maccabim-Re'ut on Wednesday announced that Captain Eitan Itzhak Oster fell in battle in Lebanon.
Eitan, 22, was a resident of Modi'in and a graduate of AMIT. He served as a Squad Commander in the Egoz Unit of the Commando Brigade. He is survived by his parents and six siblings.
A short time later, Kiryat Ata Mayor Yaakov Peretz announced that Nezer Itkin, a resident of the city and a soldier in the Egoz unit fell in battle in southern Lebanon.
"The bitter news comes on the eve of the new year and personifies the terrible price that this war of our existence takes from the people of Israel. Our condolences to the family which received the worst possible news. We will update about the time of the funeral," Mayor Peretz stated.

The Lufthansa Group has announced an extension of flight cancellations to Israel, suspending operations until November 1st.
This decision affects several airlines within the group, including Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings.
Initially set to resume flights by October 14, the group has now extended the suspension due to ongoing security concerns. Passengers impacted by these cancellations are offered the option to cancel their tickets free of charge or to rebook.

Jaffa, Israel - Oct. 1, 2024 -Seven people were killed and at least eight others wounded in a shooting and stabbing terror attack in Jaffa on Tuesday evening, according to Israel Police, in one of the deadliest terror attacks in recent years.
Two terrorists, one of whom was armed with a rifle and the other with a knife, attacked civilians on the Tel Aviv light rail before getting off and continuing on foot and shooting and stabbing people on Jerusalem Street in the city.
A municipal security officer and armed civilians shot and “neutralized” the two terrorists, police added.
The two terrorists were identified as Mehmed Khalaf Saher Rajab and Hassan Mohammed Hassan Tamimi, both Palestinian residents of Hebron in the West Bank.

The US warned Tuesday that there would be “severe consequences” for Iran after its missile attack against Israel, pledging to work with Jerusalem to extract a price from Tehran.
Washington offered similar support for Israel after helping it thwart Iran’s previous attack in April, but then it quickly turned to caution Israel against responding too broadly, fearing an escalation into a regional war.
