Israeli special forces are carrying out targeted raids in southern Lebanon, in preparation for a potential ground incursion, the Wall Street Journal reported.
People familiar with the matter told WSJ that such an incursion could potentially take place "as soon as this week."
The report also said that the raids, which it stressed were "small," focus on "gathering intelligence and probing," and that they include "entering Hezbollah’s tunnels located along the border."
Such raids have occurred both recently and over the course of the past several months, and are part of Israel's efforts to degrade Hezbollah's capabilities.
The sources also stressed to WSJ that the timing of a ground incursion "could change."
It was not clear to WSJ ...

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was furious with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Israel when he was informed with very little notice that the IDF was about to kill Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
However, a US defense official said that the description of the call between Austin and Gallant was overstated and that a more accurate description would be that Austin was firm and candid in his conversation with Gallant.
Throughout the war, Gallant informed Austin of major developments, which has been a signature part of how the two governments have communicated, especially given the low level of trust between US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Considering that Israel changed foreign ministers and tha...

IDF Chief of Staff Herz Halevi participated in the situational assessment on Sunday during the strikes on Houthi military targets in Yemen.
In a photo published by the IDF Spokesperson from the situational assessment a list of terrorists who were eliminated so far during the war could be seen on the wall.
On the right side of the picture, the picture of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar could be seen with a question mark over his head.
Last week, the IDF brought bodies from the Gaza Strip to be examined by the Forensic Medicine Institute to check if one may belong to Sinwar. All examinations turned up negative.
Earlier last week, it was reported that Israel was examining the possibility that the architect of the October 7th massacre was killed in an IDF airstrike.

Pope Francis spoke on Sunday with reporters on board his flight back to Rome from Belgium and answered questions about various subjects including the elimination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
One reporter asked the pontiff: "We read this morning that 900 kg bombs were used for the targeted assassination of Nasrallah. There are more than a thousand displaced, many dead. Do you think that Israel has perhaps gone too far with Lebanon and Gaza? And how can this be resolved? Is there a message for these people there?"
Francis answered: Every day I call the parish of Gaza. More than 600 people are there, inside the parish and the college, and they tell me about the things that are happening, including the cruelties that are occurring there.
"What you are telling me—I didn’...

Due to the fact that the body of the Hezbollah leader was exhumed intact, there are increasing estimates that Nasrallah died as a result of suffocation, in great agony, as reported on Sunday evening by Channel 12 News.
It was also reported that as he was in a place without ventilation the Air Force bombings resulted in gases entering the room, causing him to suffocate to death.
The IDF informed earlier that twenty 20 more terrorists were killed alongside Nasrallah in the attack on Hezbollah's central headquarters.
"In a precise attack by the Air Force and under the direction of the intelligence wing, fighter jets attacked and killed the leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organization Hassan Nasrallah, and the commander of the southern front Ali Karachi, one of the senior comman...

The targets included power plants and a seaport used to import oil, which was "used by the Houthi terrorist regime to transfer Iranian weapons to the region, in addition to military supplies and oil," the IDF stated.
The IDF noted that the strikes were carried out in response to the recent attacks by the Houthis against the State of Israel.
"Over the past year, the Houthis have been operating under the direction and funding of Iran, and in cooperation with Iraqi militias in order to at...

As we know, Rosh Hashanah’s only mitzvah is the blowing of the shofar. The Torah does not tell us much about this mitzvah.[1] In fact, it mentions only two words: zichron (memory) and teru’ah (short sounds).[2] We are meant to use the shofar to blow teru’ot, which generate memory.[3] Who are we trying to remind of what, and how do the teru’ot accomplish this?[4]
Cries of Fear
The gemara[5] explains that the short bursts of the teru’ot are meant to remind us of one crying. The gemara then references Sefer Shoftim’s[6] depiction of Sisra’s mother crying at the window of her home as an example of such cries.[7] Why does the gemara choose her cries as the model of the sounds of the shofar?
Sometimes, we cry because of sad experiences or news. Ot...
