The Defense Department stunningly backtracked Friday on a plea deal that Pentagon prosecutors agreed to with three of the terrorists behind the Sept. 11 terror attacks, who await trial in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.  The deal that stirred national outrage and took the death penalty off of the table has been revoked by Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III in a terse memo.  Secretary Austin III is now taking the lead on the case for 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammad, Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak Bin 'Attash, and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al Hawsawi. In his order, Austin relieved the official in charge of the military commission who had signed off on the original plea deals. "Effective immediately, in the exercise of my authority, I hereby withdraw from the three pre...

Trump said the debate would be held on Sept. 4 in Pennsylvania, although the location of the event has not yet been determined. Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is blaming former President Trump for the latest negative jobs report — nearly a full term after he left office.  "Donald Trump failed Americans as president, costing our economy millions of jobs, and bringing us to the brink of recession," Harris for President spokesperson James Singer said in a statement.  "Now, he’s promising even more damage with a Project 2025 agenda that will decimate the middle class and increase taxes on working families, while ripping away health care, raising prescription drug costs, and cutting Social Security and Medicare — all while making his billionaire donors richer."  Singer added: "We’ve made significant progress, but Vice President Harris knows there&rsq...

Thomas Edison. Who has not heard of this man? He was arguably one of the most brilliant and innovative thinkers in American history! Edison was born on February 11, 1847 in Milan, Ohio, and already at the age of 16, he created his first successful invention, the automatic repeater, which was a device that could send telegraphs to a station and save them until someone could come in and read it. A few years later, he invented a device that would automatically count votes for local elections, as well a ticker machine for the stock markets. His rise to fame, though, came in the late 1870s, when he invented the phonograph, the first machine in the world that could record and replay sound. In 1880, he invented another world-famous device: the long-lasting light bulb, which could burn for more tha...

Jerusalem, Israel – Aug. 2, 2024 - (JPost) Western intelligence sources told Sky News Arabia that Iran plans to attack Israel on Tisha B’Av, in response to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. The attack, coordinated with Hezbollah, is expected to occur between August 12 and 13. The timing is seen as adding psychological impact, making Jewish Israelis feel vulnerable. Three sources confirmed to the New York Times that Iran intends to retaliate for Haniyeh's assassination. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, also hinted at revenge. Attacks on Jewish holidays have historical precedence, such as the Yom Kippur War in 1973 and the Simchat Torah attack on October 7. The report suggests that an attack on Tisha B’Av would not only be symbolic but could...

The Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office, regarding enforcement of the citation docket, believes more can be done--although they say, progress has been made with Baltimore police. The citation docket, implemented by City State's Attorney Ivan Bates, is aimed at tackling low-level crimes--like loitering, drug possession with the intent to distribute and dirt biking. But after a year since Bates rolled out the program---and the back and forth with the city---Bates says that enforcement efforts surrounding his docket still seem to be an issue. "Well, we surely hope so," said Solomon. "Originally we had a slow start with BPD. But since then, we've had numerous trainings with BPD. We have seen an increase in citations issued by the police department, specifically in t...
