Baltimore, MD - May 2, 2024  - Former Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby is seeking a pardon from President Joe Biden prior to being sentenced for federal crimes she was convicted of committing while still in office. Mosby was found guilty in separate trials of two counts of perjury and a single count of mortgage fraud. Prosecutors successfully argued that Mosby withdrew $90,000 from her city Deferred Compensation Plan under false pretenses in order to buy two vacation homes in Florida. She also lied on the home mortgage applications. Mosby claimed she withdrew the money due to financial hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic. Court documents, however, said she not only received her full salary during that period but got a $9,000 raise as well. The trials wer...

Washington, D.C. - May 2, 2024  - President Biden criticized certain aspects of protests on college campuses related to the war in Gaza, condemning vandalism and trespassing while defending the right to peaceful demonstration. He emphasized that violent protest is not protected, while dissent is essential to democracy but must not lead to disorder. Biden specifically mentioned incidents at Columbia University and other campuses where protests escalated. He stated that sending in the National Guard was not under consideration and that the protests hadn't prompted a policy rethink on the Middle East. The demonstrations, sparked by outrage over the Gaza conflict, have led to clashes with police and disruptions on campuses nationwide. Biden stressed the importance of uphold...
Petach Tikvah, Israel – Today, Ella Chaimi, the widow of the late Tal Chaimi of Kibbutz Nir Yitzchak, delivered a baby boy at Beilinson Hospital, one of Israel’s largest medical centers. Chaimi’s husband was kidnapped and murdered while in the line of duty on October 7 by Hamas into Gaza. This is the couple’s fourth child. “This birth is filled with mixed emotions as I welcome into the world our child who brings with him lots of joy while also remembering Tal who was a wonderful husband and father,” said Ella Chaimi. “I wish he was here with us right now.” “Every labor and delivery is special but this one was even more so as this baby brings joy to a family who has suffered so much tragedy,” said Idit Engel, a midwife at Beilins...
Saudi Arabia has launched a crackdown on its citizens who have been engaging in online attacks against Israel and showing solidarity with Hamas on social media platforms during the ongoing conflict in Gaza. According to Bloomberg, Saudi authorities have initiated a series of arrests targeting individuals who have been inciting against Israel on various social networking sites. This recent move by the kingdom indicates a shift towards potential normalization of relations with Israel, contingent upon Israel's commitment to supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state. While arrests for online expressions are not uncommon in Saudi Arabia, the scale and focus of the current wave of arrests stand out. The Saudi authorities are reportedly intensifying efforts to curb incitement a...

Baltimore, MD - May 2, 2024 - It’s a natural progression in life, the older you get, the more medications you likely need. “This one is for his heart. This is for kidneys. I don’t know what this one’s for,” said retired state employee Kathy Miller as she rifled through her and her husband’s prescriptions, “Doctor gave it to him, so we just take it.” Like many retirees, their medicine cabinet is full, with each pill bottle containing a different drug intended to help the couple live longer, healthier lives. “Some of them would put him in the hospital if he didn’t take these drugs,” she said. But soon, Miller says they could be cutting back on certain medications – a decision that was not doctor-recommended. Back in...

We hear you. We see the shameless hostility and threats. We feel the insult, the breach of faith and breach of friendship. We s...

In Hampden residents saw an 182% increase in car thefts from the year prior. In Mount Vernon, there was a 445% increase in car thefts, with nearly 100 more than the previous year. Also, in the Central district, the Little Italy neighborhood saw a 500% increase in car thefts. Mayor Brandon Scott and police pointed to a nationwide trend in car thefts largely driven by the theft of certain Kia and Hyundai models where videos online demonstrated how to steal them. Only a fraction of the ballistic missile interceptors launched by the US military intercepted their targets during Iran's large-scale missile and drone attack on Israel on the night of April 13, journalist Amir Bar Shalom of Galai Tzahal reported today (Wednesday). According to the report, of the eight SM-3 missiles fired by the American forces, only two reached their target. This constitutes a failure rate of 75%. The SM-3 is a ship-based surface-to-air missile used to intercept short and medium-range ballistic missiles. This was the first time SM-3s were used in combat. An American Patriot missile battery was also deployed and shot down at least one ballistic missile. However, Bar Shalom emphasized that this was only a small part of America's contribution to the def...
Following the October 7th Hamas massacre, Americans have watched our country’s college campuses devolve into cesspools of naked, unabashed antisemitism. Antisemitic and anti-Israel vitriol from students and professors; praise for Hamas and its butchery; threats, assaults, and violence against Jewish students have all become a daily occurrence that is met only with a tepid response from officials of even the most elite universities.  Agudath Israel of America applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for passing the Antisemitism Awareness Act (H.R. 6090) which will provide another critical weapon in the fight against the scourge of antisemitism on campus. This bipartisan legislation introduced by Representative Mike Lawler (R-NY) and Representative Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) direct...
