A daughter has been born to Sergeant first class (res.) Elhanan Ariel Klein, 29, from the Samaria town of Einav. Klein was murdered on his way to his home after reserve service.
“May this be a source of great blessing. With gratitude and Thanksgiving to God, we are happy and excited to announce the birth of our daughter. Elhanan and Hila Klein,” the family wrote.
Elhanan was murdered in a shooting attack on the road between Shavei Shomron and Einav, near the PA town of Bayt Lid. A vehicle carrying the terrorists overtook Klein's, during which the terrorists fired on his car. He was wounded and lost control of his vehicle, which went off the road and rolled.

Hamas threatened Saturday to suspend ceasefire talks unless humanitarian aid was brought into northern Gaza, where aid agencies have warned of a looming famine.
“The movement intends to suspend negotiations until aid is brought into northern Gaza,” a senior source in the terror group told AFP. “Negotiations cannot be held while hunger is ravaging the Palestinian people.”
Negotiations have been held in Cairo over the past week in an attempt to bring about a humanitarian pause as the war approaches its fifth month.

Lefty Driesell, the Hall of Fame coach whose folksy drawl belied a fiery on-court demeanor that put Maryland on the college basketball map and enabled him to rebuild several struggling programs, died Saturday. He was 92.
Maryland announced Driesell's death. His grandson, Ty Anderson, an assistant coach at Wofford, told The Washington Post that Driesell died at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Driesell finished with 786 victories over parts of five decades and was the first coach to win more than 100 games at four NCAA Division I schools. He started at Davidson in 1960 before bringing Maryland into national prominence from 1969-86, a stay that ended with the cocaine-induced death of All-American Len Bias.

“You asked for it. I warned you.” That's what a Baltimore County police officer told a man in his custody after assaulting him, according to a grand jury indictment filed this week in Baltimore City.
Corporal Zachary Small is charged with assault, reckless endangerment, excessive force, and misconduct in office after an incident that happened on September 27.
According to the indictment, it all started when the suspect escaped from police custody at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Several city police officers, county police officers, and a couple of Hopkins security guards were helping make the exchange back into county police custody on the 400 block of N. Washington St. That's when the alleged assault happened.

Israel carried out covert attacks on two major gas pipelines inside Iran this week, two Western officials and a military strategist affiliated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps told The New York Times on Friday.
The attacks resulted in explosions that disrupted the flow of heat and cooking gas to provinces with millions of people, the report said.

David Trone, both garnering 42% in a hypothetical general election matchup, according to the first Emerson College Polling/The Hill/DC News Now survey of the 2024 Maryland U.S. Senate Election. Additionally, Hogan leads County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, 44% to 37%, with 19% undecided. In the Republican senate primary, Hogan leads with 43% support, while no other candidate reaches double digits, leaving 43% of voters undecided. Conversely, in the Democratic primary, Trone leads with 32% support, followed by Alsobrooks at 17%, with 37% of Democratic primary voters undecided.

A number of years ago, I posed the following question and received back a number of nice suggestions which I would like to share.
At the beginning of the parsha (25:3-7) Moshe is told to collect numerous different materials for the purpose of building the mishkan. He is told to collect gold, silver, copper and various other materials without any indication as to what they will be used for. Then he is told to collect oil for lighting, spices for the anointing oil and the ketores and stones for the eifod and choshen. Why is the specific purpose listed for these materials but not for the others?

Baltimore, MD - Feb. 16, 2024 - A week after a federal jury found Marilyn Mosby guilty on one count of mortgage fraud, the judge presiding in the case denied a defense motion for judgment of acquittal.
The timeline of the case goes back more than two years, starting in early January 2022 with a four-count federal indictment charging the former Baltimore City state's attorney with perjury and mortgage fraud.
Last week, a jury found Mosby guilty of one of two counts of mortgage fraud pertaining to Mosby lying to a lender about the source of some of the closing funds during the purchase of a Florida condo in 2021, all in order to lock in a loan at a lower interest rate.

The judge who presided over a civil business fraud trial against Donald Trump and his company has issued his decision in the case.
Judge Arthur Engoron ordered the former president and the Trump Organization to pay over $350 million in damages, and bars Trump "from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other legal entity in New York for a period of three years."
He also continued "the appointment of an Independent Monitor" and ordered "the installation of an Independent Director of Compliance" for the company.

US President Joe Biden on Friday called for a temporary ceasefire in Gaza that will allow for the release of hostages still being held by the terrorist organization.
"I've had extensive conversations with Prime Minister of Israel over the last seven days, almost an hour each, and I've made the case, and I feel very strongly about it, that there has to be a temporary ceasefire to get the prisoners out, to get the hostages out, and that is underway. I’m still hopeful that can be done," he told reporters in the White House.

Two juveniles have been charged with crimes connected to the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally, authorities said Friday.
A news release from the Jackson County Family Court said the juveniles are being detained in the county’s Juvenile Detention Center “on gun-related and resisting arrest charges.” The release said it is “anticipated that additional charges are expected in the future as the investigation by the Kansas City Police Department continues.”

Two individuals were murdered and four people were wounded in a terrorist shooting attack at the Masmiya (Re'em) Junction between Gedera and Kiryat Malachi in southern Israel on Friday afternoon.
An armed civilian battled the terrorist and eliminated him.
A large police force arrived at the scene and began to search the area to rule out the possibility of there being an additional terrorist. In the terrorist vehicle, the police found an identity card belonging to a resident of the Shuafat neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem, and are checking if it belongs to the terrorist.
