An indictment against Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) on bribery charges is set to be unsealed later Friday, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office in the Southern District of New York. Menendez and his wife, Nadine, are charged with bribery offenses, accused of a “corrupt relationship” with three New Jersey businessmen, the office said in a tweet. A press briefing is scheduled for 11 a.m. to announce the charges. The indictment, first published by Politico, alleges Menendez and his wife agreed to and accepted “hundreds of thousands of dollars” of bribes in exchange for using his “power and influence as a senator” to enrich the three businessmen — Wael “Will” Hana, Jose Uribe and Fred Daibe — as well as benefit Egypt. Baltimore, MD - Sept. 21, 2023 - Middle School students have been busy learning about and preparing for the Yomim Noraim. During their Halacha classes, boys and girls have learned about the additional Tefilot, the mitzvot of Teshuva and Shofar, and what can and can’t be done on Yom Kippur. MS girls had a Simanim seder during Navi class, and the boys practiced blowing a Shofar. On Wednesday, OCA students had the privilege of hearing words of inspiration from Rabbi Duvy Rubin, Rav of Kehillas Ohr Yisrael. Rabbi Rubin spoke about the power of Tefila, using stories about Rav Shimshon Pincus, the late Rav of Ofakim, to illustrate that Tefila is real and we should take advantage of the dialogue we can have with Hakadosh Baruch Hu.
This week we read the portion of the Torah that is referred to as שירת האזינו — the Song of Haazinu. Encapsulated within its verses is the full history of the Jewish people, both the collective as well as everyone's personal journey. Nachmanides asserts that within the letters of these verses there exist hidden allusions to each of our names and their role in the panoply of history. It is thus called a song, because the entire past, present, and future of our experience expresses the total harmony of G-d's orchestration of history in bringing it to a joyous crescendo. The hardships and challenges are all precisely scripted to bring about a symphony of tribute to the Almighty's ultimate benevolence. We divide the six aliyos that comprise this song in very ...

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took with him to the UN General Assembly an archaeological find from the Tel Jericho archaeological site, which was declared a "Palestinian heritage site" by the UNESCO organization last week. He also requested an ancient artifact that demonstrates the Jewish people...
As we enter the fall season with cooler weather approaching, Baltimore County residents may be tempted to leave their cars unattended while they warm up. The term “Warm-Up Theft” describes stealing a vehicle that has been left running and unattended. These thefts typically occur outside a home, apartment building or convenience store. They are crimes of opportunity and crimes that are preventable. To help drivers protect themselves against “Warm-Up Theft,” the Baltimore County Police Department wants to remind residents of the potential threat and provide some safe alternatives. Turn your car off, never leave your car running unattended. In cold weather, warm up with your car: grab a hot cup of coffee, gloves, and a blanket. It shouldn’t take long –...

President Isaac Herzog this evening addressed the annual memorial ceremony at Yad LaShiryon, Latrun, for the fallen servicemen and women of the IDF Armored Corps, this year marking 50 years since the Yom Kippur War. In his speech he addressed key regional developments and the ongoing challenges faced by Israel, and Israeli society. President Herzog said, "These are challenging and difficult - even dangerous - days for us as a society and as a country. Socially, economically and most importantly from a security perspective - the internal crisis poses a threat. We see the photos and reports of our enemies gloating and rejoicing - when they mistakenly interpret the debate between us as an internal disintegration, God forbid - this is a warning sign. Thus, for example, in the words of Dr. Ma...
