In Vayikra 13:52, the Torah tells us that one needs to burn clothing that was afflicted with tzoraas.   The Tosefta in 5:13 says that if a Jew dyes the clothing afflicted with tzoraas or sells it to a non-Jew, the clothing becomes tahor. The reason for this is that if a non-Jew has an article of clothing with tzoraas on it, it would not be tamei; so too, if a Jew sells an article of clothing with tzoraas on it to a non-Jew, it automatically becomes tahor. The Rambam in 13:15 of Hilchos Tzoraas brings the above opinion down le’halacha.  The Ohr Sameach and the Chazon Ish ask how can one sell something...

Baltimore’s plan to ban squeegeeing in several busy intersections across the city has been going on for nearly three months, and police say they’ve issued no citations. While many of those intersections remain squeegee free, we found drivers are still reporting problems with squeegee workers citywide. On Tuesday, a call came in to Baltimore Police of a driver complaining a squeegee worker damaged their vehicle. That same day police tell us there were six calls for service alone in reference to squeegee related incidents. Squeegee enforcement zones went into effect on January 10th, banning squeegeeing in six high traffic intersections throughout the city. They’re enforced by police with a three tiered system. First a warning, second another warning and referral...

Someone once approached his town’s rabbi just before Pesach and asked if he could fulfill the obligation of drinking four cups of wine at the Seder by drinking cups of milk instead. The rabbi said “No” and gave the person who asked a nice donation. The rabbi’s wife then asked: “Why did you give him so much money? Four cups of wine don’t cost that much.” And he answered: “I gave him enough for all the expenses of a proper Seder because from his question I understood that he had none of the Seder necessities. How is it possible to drink milk at a festival meal that includes meat?”The message here is clear. Sometimes a person may turn to us with a seemingly simple question that is easy to answer or a request with which we can easily comply...

Bipartisan legislation passed the house Wednesday to prevent President Joe Biden’s Department of Energy from adding new strict regulations on gas stoves. The bill was backed by 29 Democrats who voted with the GOP on this amendment. Florida Congressman Byron Donalds joined The National Desk’s Jan Jeffcoat Thursday morning to discuss the issue. “The Department of Energy came out with this silly proposal about wanting to ban gas stoves, something that millions of Americans have used, enjoyed and loved,” he said. “But they wanted to take this to rule-making as opposed to just letting the market and commerce dictate it.” In February, the DE proposed new energy conservation standards that would require removing most existing gas stove models from th...

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir (Otzma Yehudit) pushed back Wednesday morning, following criticism by President Joe Biden of the Israeli government’s handling of the judicial reform crisis. On Tuesday, Biden said he is “very concerned” about the judicial overhaul, adding Israel “cannot continue down this road.” Biden also added he will not be inviting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House in the near term. Speaking with Galei Tzahal Wednesday morning, Ben-Gvir fired back that Israel is independent of the United States, and that Biden’s criticism was inappropriate. “We respect the democratic system there [in the US], but… they need to understand that Israel is an independent country and not just...
