The office of Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Monday issued a statement condemning Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who said at an event in Paris on Sunday that “there is no such thing as a Palestinian people.”
"This truth should be heard here in the Elysee Palace. This truth should also be heard by the Jewish people in the State of Israel who are a little confused, this truth should be heard in the White House in Washington. The whole world needs to hear this truth, because it is the truth - and the truth will win," said Smotrich in his remarks.
In its statement, Abbas’ office stated that "the racist statement of the extremist Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich, who denied the existence of the Palestinian people, is an attempt to fals...
Smotrich hails legislation: 'What you vote for is what you get!'
Israel’s parliament struck down its 2005 Disengagement Law early Tuesday, making Israeli presence in evacuated settlements in the West Bank legal.
The legislation passed on second and third readings by a 31-18 vote, making it law.
In 2005, Israel unilaterally withdrew from all settlements in Gaza and four in the northern West Bank. The new legislation paves the way for Israelis to return to these sites after an 18-year ban, a huge victory for Israel’s settlement movement.
One of the settlements, Homesh, housed an outpost with a Yeshiva, or religious Jewish school, that was slated for destruction.
'The Zionist vision that inspired us – and all the immigrants who came before us – has been hijacked by extremists who threaten the fabric of this country'
More than 1,600 new immigrants to Israel wrote a letter to the Israeli government demanding a halt to legal reform, Israeli media reported.
In the letter, the immigrants asked to freeze the legislation which will be partially voted on by the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, early next month. The immigrant group, “Olim for Democracy,” also called on the Jewish Agency to take action on the issue. In addition, the letter reached the country's president, Isaac Herzog, who previously proposed a compromise plan.
The signatories to the letter come from a variety of backgrounds, includ...
"Our task now is to return to the settlements in Gush Katif and rebuild them"
Following the Knesset's approved repeal of the 2005 law on disengagement from northern West Bank settlements, some members of the government's right-wing coalition indicated that the return of Israelis to Gush Katif in the southern Gaza Strip would be their next goal.
Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) MK Limor Son Har-Melech called for the repeal of the Gush Katif disengagement law and the restoration of the four evacuated West Bank settlements as soon as possible.
"We have infinite joy for a historic correction, but we must continue the mission until it is completed," Limor Son Har-Melech said in his speech to the Israeli parliament.
Saudi Arabia's statement comes after Jordan, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates condemned Smotrich's remarks
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement on Tuesday condemning Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich for a speaking appearance in Paris where a map of "Greater Israel" was presented that included the West Bank and the Kingdom of Jordan within Israel's borders and his claim that "there is no such thing as Palestinian people."
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's condemnation and denunciation of the offensive and racist statements made by an official in the Israeli occupation government against the State of Palestine and its brotherly people,” the ministry said in a statemen...
The terrorist were under covert surveillance at all stages of planning and were exposed before the attacks could be carried out
Israel's Shin Bet announced the foiling of shooting attack in Jerusalem by terrorists from the Gaza Strip.
Iman Yosef Khalil Zakot and Mohammad Zabri Aram, residents of Rafah affiliated with the "Resistance Committees" in Gaza, were under covert surveillance at all stages of planning and were exposed before the attacks could be carried out.
In a statement, Israeli authorities said that Zakat and Aram worked to recruit young Palestinians in the West Bank, providing them with training and instructions in return for the promotion of military activity against Israeli targets and objectives. The pair also used the recruitment of young individuals to move weap...

Young, healthy, and disadvantaged Israelis are among the top users of opioids
According to a new study by the Taub Center for Social Policy Studies in Jerusalem, Israel surpassed the United States in 2020 in the use of painkilling narcotics, including fentanyl, a drug 50 times more potent than heroin.
The authors of the study also propose immediate measures in their report to reduce the consumption of this type of drug, which can have destructive effects when taken in high doses.
The researchers believe that safer alternatives for managing pain, better access to medical treatment, mental health and social services, and reducing the stigma associated with drug use and abuse are needed to reduce this disturbing trend.
In an interview on i24NEWS, one of the authors of the res...

As reported by Chaim V’Chessed, just last week the US Embassy rolled out troubling new rules, ending the issuance of emergency passports for babies born to US citizens residing in Israel. These rules greatly limited the ability of American families residing in Israel to travel to the USA for Pesach.
This difficulty came in addition to the fact that the average wait time for appointments for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad and first-time passports for newborns in Israel is now a disturbing four to five months. Emergency passports were a solution for those with immediate travel plans who could not obtain a CRBA appointment.
Chaim V’Chessed has been working intensely for an immediate resolution to this issue, along with other community organizations, such as Amudim an...
