Baltimore, MD – Mar. 19, 2023 - There will be road closures and congested traffic in the area of Olympia, Wallis, Cross Country and Fallstaff due to this evening’s Hachnasas Sefer Torah beginning on Olympia.The road closures and traffic will occur from 7-8pm.
Drivers are requested to plan their route accordingly and to allow extra travel time to their destination.
As usual, Baltimore unity finds Shomrim, Baltimore Police, and Chaverim working together on traffic control and logistics as well as Hatzalah on hand for safety purposes.

Boys attending the entire seder will receive a coupon towards a Thursday Night Large Cholent at the Knish Shop.

Jerusalem, Israel - Mar. 19, 2023 - Friday morning, March 17, 2023, the International Jerusalem Winner Marathon was held for the 12th time. International runners were back in Jerusalem for the first time since the 2019 Marathon, including Baltimore's Shomrei Emunah Congregation's Rabbi Binyamin Marwick and his son Moshe.
Some 40,000 people participated in the event, most of whom went past the Knesset, along the walls of the Old City, the Sultan's Pool, Mishkenot Sha'ananim, Mount Zion, the German Colony, Rehavia, Armon HaNatziv promenade, Ammunition Hill, Sacher Park, Mount Scopus, and Har HaZitim. The Swiss government is reportedly set to announce a deal Sunday that will allow UBS, the largest bank in Switzerland, to buy its beleaguered rival, Credit Suisse, for $2 billion, according to the Financial Times.
The announcement comes amid mounting concerns over the potential collapse of Credit Suisse creating a contagion in the banking sector. Credit Suisse saw its stock price plunge and deposit outflows continue last week despite receiving a $54 billion financial lifeline from the Swiss National Bank to bolster its liquidity. The American expatriate community in Israel has been roiled in recent weeks over the ongoing difficulties in obtaining US passports in Israel. Wait times for appointments at the US Embassy in Jerusalem can be many long months. The problem is particularly acute leading up to the pre-Pesach travel season. Especially affected are parents of babies born in recent months. A terrorist shooting attack was reported near the Arab town of Huwara in Samaria Sunday afternoon, at the site of another terrorist shooting attack last month.
Two people were wounded in the attack, one of whom is said to be in serious condition with a head wound, while the other was treated for shock.
According to initial reports, the victims are a husband and wife, both in their 30s. The couple's children were not wounded in the attack.
Witnesses say the terrorist walked up to the victims' vehicle and opened fire at point-blank range with a Carlo-style submachine gun before fleeing the scene, dropping his gun on the way.

Dozens of demonstrators protested in Kfar Uria, west of Jerusalem, Saturday morning against National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who spent the weekend in the village.
The protesters made noise using megaphones and airhorns near the synagogue where the minister was praying. Residents were angered by the noise during the services and requested that the protesters leave the premises.
A confrontation developed at the scene, including throwing firecrackers, stones, and smoke grenades at the protesters. Two protesters were arrested, and a counter-protester was arrested on suspicion he threw stones.

Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, discussed the government's judicial reform legislation during a lecture on Saturday evening.
"We are the Great Rabbinical Court, they are the Supreme Court. Why should they be above us? Why shouldn't we be above them?" the Chief Rabbi wondered.
Concerning the demonstrations against the plan, he stated, "We need peace among the nation. All of the disagreements, all of the civil wars, are very disturbing and painful. We need dialogue."

Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Saturday predicted that former President Donald Trump will be re-elected in a "landslide" if he is indicted — or possibly arrested and potentially "handcuffed" — next week.

Donald Trump has called for his supporters to protest and claimed that his arrest is imminent over alleged charges related to hush money payments, according to the AP . He made the statement on his social media platform, seemingly as a preemptive move to mobilize his base of supporters ahead of expected charges. The statement led to fundraising solicitations from his campaign and statements in his defense by some influential Republicans in Congress and declared/potential rival candidates. The two German tourists dodged their vehicle and fled on foot
Two German tourists driving through the West Bank on Saturday in a vehicle embossed with a logo featuring the Israeli flag narrowly escaped a violent mob attack.
The incident unfolded in the city of Nablus, the site of several recent anti-terrorism raids by Israel Defense Forces.
The two drove a vehicle rented from a Tel Aviv car-sharing service, imprinted with the Tel Aviv municipal logo, which features the blue-and-white flag of the Jewish state.
