Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, discussed the government's judicial reform legislation during a lecture on Saturday evening. "We are the Great Rabbinical Court, they are the Supreme Court. Why should they be above us? Why shouldn't we be above them?" the Chief Rabbi wondered. Concerning the demonstrations against the plan, he stated, "We need peace among the nation. All of the disagreements, all of the civil wars, are very disturbing and painful. We need dialogue." Rabbi Yosef called to explain to the general public that the Supreme Court has no say on matters of religion. Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Saturday predicted that former President Donald Trump will be re-elected in a "landslide" if he is indicted — or possibly arrested and potentially "handcuffed" — next week. "If this happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory," Musk tweeted. Musk was reacting to a Fox News segment which detailed how the Manhattan District Attorney's office has asked for a meeting with law enforcement ahead of a possible Trump indictment of next week. According to a court source, the meeting was requested Thursday and hasn't been set. The meeting is to "discuss logistics for some time next week, which would mean that they are anticipating an indictment next week," the source familiar with the planning said. Donald Trump has called for his supporters to protest and claimed that his arrest is imminent over alleged charges related to hush money payments, according to the AP . He made the statement on his social media platform, seemingly as a preemptive move to mobilize his base of supporters ahead of expected charges. The statement led to fundraising solicitations from his campaign and statements in his defense by some influential Republicans in Congress and declared/potential rival candidates. In a later post, Trump directed his anger at the Biden administration and raised the possibility of civil unrest.

In the beginning of this week's parsha, the sum total of all the metals used for the mishkan is given. Ibn Ezra (38:24) and many other commentaries point out that the total of the gold is given without telling us what the gold was used for. But when the totals of the silver and copper are given, we are told exactly what they are used for. A number of answers are offered. Ramban answers that the silver and copper were used for parts made completely of silver and copper so their exact weights could be measured out in order to count how much was used. The gold, however, was often used to coat different utensils such as the mizbei'ach or the aron and thus it was not possible to weigh out the amount of gold used for each utensil.
