Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant during his visit to the Judea and Samaria Division: “We will act decisively and forcefully against anyone who threatens our citizens.”

The Israeli government has officially dropped the special tax on disposable dishware, such as cutlery, plates, bowls, cups, etc, according to Arutz-7. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich of the Religious Zionist Party pushed the plan, which was supported by the government's Charedi allies who felt the tax unfairly targeted larger Charedi families who rely heavily on disposable items. Environmental Protection Minister Idit Silman of Likud criticized the end of the tax, stating it led to a reduction in the use of disposables and reduced environmental and health damage. Five people arrested after a fatal terrorist shooting attack near a shul in Yerushlayim on Friday night are suspected of involvement in the attack, according to Arutz-7. The police opened an investigation into the shooting and arrested several suspects, including some relatives and neighbors of the 21-year-old attacker, who was neutralized by the police. More support is showing up for Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates’ legislation looking to implement tougher penalties for certain gun crimes as bipartisan cosponsors move the proposal forward.
Currently, the maximum penalty for misdemeanor illegal gun possession is three years for offenders 21-years-old and older, but five years for those between 18 and 20 years old.
State’s Attorney Bates wants to level the playing field and raise the maximum penalty to five years for people 21-years-old and older.
Mayor Brandon Scott said Friday that it “makes no sense” to have different maximum sentences for people of different ages convicted of misdemeanor gun possession.

Governor Wes Moore, a veteran himself, is focusing on keeping veterans in Maryland and easing the tax burden on them.
He unveiled the 'keep our heroes home act;, it provides $30 million in relief to veterans and their families.
The act, if passed, exempts the first $25,000 in veteran retirement income for 2023 then $40,000 in 2024, up from just fifteen thousand right now.
"This is going to represent the largest shift that we have seen in the way that the state of Maryland taxes its military benefits that we have seen in this state's history," said Governor Moore.
The governor says the goal is to get a full exemption on military retirement income.

A terrorist arrived at a restaurant, fired one bullet and fled the scene.
After the terrorist fired one bullet, a firearm malfunction occurred and he was unable to continue shooting.
IDF and Israel Police are searching the area. No injuries were reported in the incident.

My heart breaks at news of the horrific terror attacks over Shabbat in Jerusalem. We have lost seven innocent civilians in a murderous terror attack, who had only just welcomed Shabbat into their homes and communities. May their memories be a blessing.
This morning in synagogue, as the cantor recited the "El Malei Rachamim" prayer for the souls of the victims of the attack, there was not a single dry eye among the worshippers, including me. We were all moved together.
These awful terror attacks remind us again of a simple and painful truth: whatever disagreements we may have between us, against our enemies, who want to harm us and rise up to kill us, we must maintain our unity.
