Baltimore, MD - Nov. 28, 2022 - Last year, at the end of Chesvan TShP”B, or October 2022, something I thought I never would do, happened. I published a book. Having always liked to write as a teen, and then filling that outlet with my preschool newsletters, this somehow morphed into writing poetry, and then later on into essays.

Like anyone who travels to the Holy Land and pours out their heart in prayer there, I joked with my husband after the book was official that I don’t know what window he opened up in the Heavens as that was when my writing took off.

House Democrats on Wednesday elected Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) to head the party in the next Congress, marking a generational shift after 20 years under the reign of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) while making Jeffries the first Black figure to lead either party in Congress in the nation’s history.
The shift was no surprise. After Pelosi and her top deputies announced earlier in the month that they would step out of the top three leadership spots next year, Jeffries was one of three next-generation leaders who quickly swept in to solidify their place as uncontested contenders atop the party brass.

Baltimore, MD - Nov. 30, 2022 - One of the critical survival mechanisms of Klal Yisrael in golus had been the ability to find comfort and security amidst perilous conditions. By clinging to the powerful bedrock of Yiddishkeit we discover a font of spiritual resilience and courage to face down our hostile adversities. This idea will emerge from a creative read of the pasuk in our Parsha, ''ויפגעבמקום'', literally translated as, ‘’He encountered place.’’

There are a couple of powerful motifs in Torah, motifs which offer us many insights into the human condition, our heritage, and our unique relationship with God. One is the barren matriarch – the challenge of pregnancy and birth in the context of the promise of a great people. There is also the deeply human need to find a mate. Not only do we desire connection in our lives, but as we understand the world around us, we begin to appreciate the value and importance of how our personal relationship impact our families, our communities and our world.
Few human tasks are as fraught with emotional uncertainty as finding the right mate, one who will not only fulfill individual needs but also the challenges and responsibilities of our community and the promise of the ...
The House passed a bill on Wednesday to avert a railway strike, taking the first major step in avoiding a walkout of workers that would have drastic effects on the U.S. economy as it heads into the holiday season.
The chamber passed the resolution in a 290-137 vote, sending it to the Senate for consideration just over one week out from the Dec. 9 strike deadline. Seventy-nine Republicans supported the measure, and eight Democrats voted “no.”
In a subsequent vote, lawmakers passed a separate measure that would give rail workers seven days of paid sick leave per year, addressing a chief concern unions and progressives had with the agreement. That vote was 221-207, with three Republicans joining all Democrats present in supporting the measure.

Former national security adviser John Bolton said he thinks Republicans are looking for a “fresh face” to lead the party, becoming the latest former Trump ally to suggest the GOP move away from the former president.
Bolton, who served in the Trump White House from 2018 to 2019, pointed to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) as a possible contender in a recent interview with The Guardian.
“[DeSantis has] had a very successful run as governor of Florida. He won re-election on Nov. 8 with a big majority. A lot of people look to him as the next generation candidate,” Bolton said, according to The Guardian. “That’s one of Trump’s biggest problems – his act is old and tired now.”
