Baltimore, MD - Sept. 23, 2022 - Hatzalah is proud to announce the purchase of  a new state of the art ambulance. We would like to thank our five family sponsors for making this purchase possible.  Each family has a unique reason that Hatzalah is meaningful to them personally. To demonstrate their passion for the Hatzalah cause, they generously donated to the purchase of a new ambulance to ensure that the memory of their loved ones would live on in this most meaningful way. These are some thoughts and feelings of our ambulance sponsors, as they honor the memory of their loved ones: Sholom Reches A”H: Sholom’s stated mission in life was to help others. Beginning in his teenage years  as an EMT and Firefighter, Sholom spent every day on an ambulance or fire ...

Once again Rosh Hashana is upon us.   Most people as they return to this point in our yearly cycle feel a sense of ‘here we go again’. We have been here before and we are right back where we started from. Looking back, we do not necessarily feel we are in a much different place than we were last year. Perhaps some of our dreams have been fulfilled, whether it was: finding a partner in life; being blessed with children; snatching that job or business opportunity; recovering from illness. But did we really change and improve? Have we enhanced our character, or are we still stuck with the same issues and challenges? When evaluating our overall standing and purpose, how many of us sense drastic change?   The frustration is even more significant for those who are still w...

“She was Baltimore Royalty.”  Those words were repeated over and over again when news of the passing of Mrs. Elinor Cohn, Elka bat Binyamin Tzvi, Z'L, was shared. How true those words are. Always full of poise, dignity and grace- Elinor Cohn was Baltimore Royalty.  No matter where you would see her she was always put together, nails done, lipstick set and a radiant smile as she would greet you. There was an inner beauty that emanated from her as well. A pure heart, always there to help, be involved, and give advice and never asking for anything in return. She was part of the America’s Greatest Generation as well as Baltimore’s greatest generation; without whom Baltimore would not be the thriving Jewish Utopia it is today. That generation brought to ...

In one of his final addresses to the Jewish people, Moshe says, For this commandment which I command you this day, is not concealed from you, nor is it far away. It is not in heaven, that you should say, "Who will go up to heaven for us and fetch it for us, to tell [it] to us, so that we can fulfill it?" Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, "Who will cross to the other side of the sea for us and fetch it for us, to tell [it] to us, so that we can fulfill it?" Rather, [this] thing is very close to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can fulfill it (Devorim 30:11-14).” The commentaries are bothered by one simple question, “which commandment is Moshe referring to?” Some explain that Moshe is actually referring to the Torah in its entirety. The ...
Boeing and its former CEO Dennis Muilenburg agreed to pay hefty fines to settle charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission that they misled the public about the safety of the 737 Max following two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019. The SEC alleges that, following an October 2018 crash of a Lion Air 737 Max jet that killed 189 people, Boeing and Muilenburg knew that part of the plane's flight control system posed an ongoing safety concern yet told the public that the 737 Max was safe to fly. After a March 10, 2019 fatal 737 Max crash, the SEC alleges that Boeing and Muilenburg knowingly misled the public about "slips" and "gaps" in the certification process of that flight control system. "In times of crisis and tragedy, it is especially important that public compani...
