Moshe Rabbeinu did not have the “fairy-tale” ending that we would have all imagined,
of marching into Eretz Yisroel as the sun set. Instead, after Moshe davened 515 unique teffilos begging Hashem for the opportunity to enter Eretz Yisroel (as per the Midrash; hinted by the fact that Va’eschanan’s numerical value is 515), in our Parshah, Hashem declines his request.
How could it be that Moshe Rabbeinu, the one who went up for 40 days and 40 nights to shamayim, who personally learnt Torah with Hashem, the greatest Navi in history, the one who Hashem regularly answered even when it came to forgiving the most iniquitous of sins, etc. – did not have his teffilos answered, despite asking for such a virtuous request, and even after davening over 500 times???

We read these beautiful words of the prophet Yeshayahu (Isaiah) on the Shabbos immediately following Tisha B’Av. When the fast ends, we feel euphoric, excited, and optimistic. But why? What is different? The Temple has not yet been rebuilt, anti-Semitism still exists, and there is still in-fighting within our people. Why is this Shabbos a Shabbos of Consolation when nothing has seemingly changed?

Baltimore, MD - Aug. 11, 2022 - Over 300 men and women gathered at the Pikesville DoubleTree Hotel for the inaugural Mid-Atlantic Business Halacha Conference in Baltimore. The conference was a first-of-its-kind large-scale opportunity for working people in and around Maryland to gather to network, and, more importantly, receive inspiration and practical guidance from leading rabbonim on the areas of business halacha in today's workplace.
The packed schedule included keynote addresses, individual sessions, and panels covering a wide range of topics - from business management on Shabbos, to interest, to loshon hara. Additionally, there were special sessions for men and for women about gender-related practices in the workplace.

Mick Mulvaney, the former Trump administration acting chief of staff, said on Thursday that the reported informant who tipped off authorities about where Donald Trump was storing classified documents at Mar-a-Lago would have to be “very close” to the former president.
“This would be someone who was handling things on day to day, who knew where documents were, so it would be somebody very close inside the president, my guess is there’s probably six or eight people who had that kind of information,” Mulvaney said on CNN.

British Foreign Secretary of State and Parliament member Liz Truss promised to consider moving the British embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem if she is elected Tory leader and becomes prime minister in September.

Israel’s former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu's defense lawyer, Boaz Ben Tzur, told judges on Thursday that his client wanted the charges against him in “Case 4000" to be dropped, "on behalf of protection of justice."

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova on Thursday condemned Israel over the recent Operation “Breaking Dawn,” accusing it of using "disproportionate force" in the Gaza Strip.
Moscow also claimed that Israel instignated clashes between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers this week in the West Bank.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention eased its Covid-19 guidance on Thursday, saying the virus now poses a much lower risk of severe illness, hospitalization and death compared to earlier in the pandemic.
The CDC no longer recommends testing people in schools who don’t have Covid symptoms, its previous strategy to catch possible infections and head off outbreaks. But such screening is still recommended in certain high risk settings such as nursing homes, prisons and homeless shelters.
And people who aren’t vaccinated no longer need to quarantine if they have been exposed to Covid, according to the new CDC guidance. Instead, public health officials now recommend that these individuals wear a mask for 10 days and get tested on day five.

Nearly 10% of Jewish Americans who immigrated to Israel in 2021 moved to a West Bank settlement
More Jews moved from the United States to West Bank settlements in 2021 than in any other year in the past decade, according to data compiled by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
The figures showed that 333 US Jews who made aliyah — Jewish immigration to Israel – last year found new homes in the Palestinian territory, a 73 percent increase from the year prior.

A rapid breath test using "electronic nose" (eNose) technology developed at the Technion University in Haifa, northern Israel, was shown to be effective in verifying the diagnosis of atherosclerosis - a disease affecting the arteries - in patients.
The artificial nose uses sensitive, submicroscopic sensors, called nanoparticles, capable of detecting tiny molecular changes in the patient's blood.
The test can identify disease biomarkers and screen high-risk groups for specific diseases, as well as monitor treatments in people with that disease. The technology has already detected a variety of diseases, including certain types of cancer.

Updated: All the "ribs" have been removed.###Yerushalayim - Aug. 11, 2022 - The iconic "ribs" attached to the giant Belzer Beis Medrash in Yerushalayim are being removed. It's believed that expansions to the shul in all four directions are being planned as well as expansions to the shtibelach and mens mikvah.

Mechanical street sweeping parking enforcement will begin on Monday.
This comes after a 30-day grace period that started back on July 13.
Central District routes are swept weekly. Those routes have signs around the areas indicating the days and times parking is restricted.
Quadrant street sweeping are once a month. Though those do not have posted parking restrictions, the city encourage residents to move their vehicles on designated days.
