Unknown individuals succeeded last week in breaking into a container located on the other side of the first of two fences in the security circle of the airspace at Ben Gurion International Airport, Israel Hayom reported. According to the report, the burglars attempted to steal weapons. The fence was neutralized prior to the break-in, and the possibility that the burglars had cooperation from a source within the airport staff is being investigated. Bullets belonging to the Israel Airports Authority were taken from a container located within the secured area near the fence. The burglars also tried to pass the bullets in bags to the other side of the fence, but did not succeed. Back-to-back triple-digit scorchers will kick off the work week in Maryland. The heat index, or feels-like temperature when heat and humidity combine, could reach 103 degrees both Monday and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Hot and humid conditions likely will continue through the early week because of an offshore high pressure system known as a Bermuda high, meteorologists say. Forecast highs in the Baltimore-DC region are in the mid-90s Monday and Tuesday, with a 30 percent chance of rain throught Tuesday night. "While the first half of the week will bring stifling heat and humidity to much of the East Coast, a cold front will begin to make some progress to the south and east starting Wednesday," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Carl Babinsk...
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday condemned Israel for its two day shooting war with the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization in Gaza, going so far as to accuse Israel of murdering children. "We have clearly stated [to the Israelis] that the Al Aqsa Mosque is Turkey's red line," Erdogan said, condemning the visits of Jewish people to the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism. "For a couple of days, while Israeli officials have attacked Palestinian civilians, we have clearly demonstrated our stance: There is no excuse for murdering babies. "The Republic of Turkey stands with the people of Gaza and our Palestinian brothers and sisters," Erdogan said.

But the most significant aspect of the session was not the presentation itself but the reactions of the participants via chat:Members of the Sharon family shared their disappointment at missing the brit of their nephew because they cannot leave their home on the Gaza periphery. In just one day, the Cohens decided to move a family wedding from the South to the Jerusalem area. There are thousands like them whose plans and celebrations must be changed or relocated.Ayelet Nahmias-Verbin, a former Knesset member from the Labor Party, began to fast on Tisha B'Av a number...
"I was walking my dog and a little kid, I'd say 11, 12-years-old pulls up on a scooter, and was a little frantic and he's like can you help me," explained Shannon Fraser. Fraser thought she was helping the boy track down his parents. He said, "I just need to make a quick phone call." "I could hear the person talking with him. She was giving him cross streets. Where are you? What street are you at? Trying to direct, he asked me if he could open maps. So, he actually opens maps," said Fraser. Without Fraser seeing, he also opened up Venmo. "I received a notification from my bank that said your Venmo transaction of $1,800 has been approved. Right after that, it said your Venmo of $2,000 has been approved, 3,800 total," said Fraser. The Better Business Bureau says this isn'...
A 15-year-old girl was killed in Southwest Baltimore, after being accidentally shot in the head by a 9-year-old boy, said police. Fifteen-year-old Nykayia Strawder was shot at about 8:01 p.m., on Linnard Street, just north of Edmondson Avenue. The girl was found unresponsive, and died after being taken to a hospital. Witnesses told police that the 9-year-old boy was playing with a loaded handgun when it accidentally went off, striking the girl in the head. "If that gun had been in the gun case like it was supposed to be, both of those children will still have futures to look forward to," said Theresa Hargrave, community member. The 9-year-old then dropped the gun and ran away. Police found the gun, which is registered to a female relative of the boy who serves as an armed secur...

Senate Democrats have passed their sweeping tax, healthcare and climate change legislation after a marathon night of voting, with Vice President Harris casting the decisive vote to break a 50-50 deadlock and the package to the House.   The long-awaited $740 billion bill that would raise taxes on corporations, tackle climate change, lower prescription drug costs and reduce the deficit.  The bill was approved on Sunday afternoon after a full night and morning in which senators worked non-stop on the consideration of amendments to the legislation. Democrats generally stuck together to defeat GOP amendments that might have scuttled the bill. A last-second hiccup occurred when Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) backed an amendment that extended a cap on on state and ...

MK Waleed Taha (Ra’am) blasted the Israeli government over the military operation it is conducting in the Gaza Strip against the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization. In a post in Arabic on Facebook, Taha wrote that the "policy of assassinations, repression and aggression" of all Israeli governments "will not bring security and stability to the region". Taha pointed out that instead of the "policy of blood", the Israeli government should act to end the occupation, lift the blockade and provide security conditions for all the peoples of the region. The blood of the innocent Palestinians, Taha said, must not be used as fuel for the parties in Israel for their political goals. "This government must lift its hand off Gaza and stop this crazy war!" Taha demanded, adding: "We stand by ...
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Saturday warned Israel against making a “miscalculation” towards Lebanon similar to the one he said it has made towards Gaza. “We in Hezbollah are following up on what’s happening hour by hour and we’re in constant contact with our dear brothers in the leadership of the Islamic Jihad movement. We’re also in contact with our brothers in the leadership of the Hamas movement and the rest of the Palestinian factions,” Nasrallah said in a sermon, according to the Lebanese Naharnet news website. “We believe that the resistance will have the upper hand in this battle,” he added, noting that “it is clear that the enemy always goes to wrong calculations.” “We’ve heard inti...

Daoud Shehab, spokesman for the Islamic Jihad, places full responsibility on Israel for the recent escalation and claims that, before the Israeli attack, his organization was ready to discuss the mediation proposals submitted by Egypt. Speaking on Friday with the Israeli Arab Nasradio, which broadcasts from Nazareth, Shehab said that Israel attacked civilian facilities and tried to put obstacles before the Egyptian mediation efforts even though the Islamic Jihad responded positively to them. Shehab claimed that Israel is interested in an escalation and aggression for political reasons because of the elections, as reflected in other measures, such as preventing the passage of fuel to the Gaza Strip for several days and the closing of the crossings. He denied the claim that the Islam...
Islamic Jihad confirmed early Sunday morning that Khaled Mansour, the leader of the organization's southern division, was eliminated in an IDF attack in the Gaza Strip. Also eliminated in the attack was Ziad Al-Mudallal, the son of the senior Islamic Jihad leader Ahmad al-Mudallal. Meanwhile, the IDF continued to strike terrorist targets in Gaza early Sunday morning. This came following a barrage of rockets that was fired at southern Israel overnight. Over the years, Mansour was involved in dozens of incidents of rocket fire, mortar bombs and anti-tank missiles.
