The constantly rising shipping costs from overseas and even domestically are partially responsible for the soaring kosher food prices in the US. European Jews have also been shocked at the rising prices and of late the price increases are being felt in Israel. Israeli food manufacturer and distributor Osem is raising the prices of its products by an average of 4.6%.
In a letter sent to retailers, Nestle unit Osem reported that it is hiking the prices of its products 3% and 7%. "This rise partially covers the major price rises of inputs and shipping," the company said. It continued: "As you know, we have seen strong price rises globally for many months in raw material and packaging, prices and shipping costs.

First Lieutenant N., commander of the Egoz staff who accidentally fired at two IDF officers, has not managed to sleep since the incident, and is suffering great mental turmoil.
On Wednesday evening, two company commanders in the IDF's Egoz Unit, Major Ofek Aharon, 28, from Gan Yavneh, and Major Itamar Elharar, 26, from Bnei Re'em, were killed by friendly fire in the Jordan Valley.
In an interview with Yediot Aharonot, it was reported that despite N.'s anguish and mental state, he succeeded in attending one of the funerals, thanks to support and aid from his unit and commanders.
"I was sure that they were terrorists," N. told those close to him on Thursday. "I felt a danger, I was afraid, so I fired."

Across Baltimore, city recycling is piling up block after city block. “On a routine basis collections are being missed,” Councilman Yitzy Schleifer said.
Councilman Yitzy Schleifer is expressing frustration with DPW. The agency announced Wednesday that recycling collection will now only occur every other week amid a staffing shortage.
“It’s very frustrating. This is the most basic city service that is supposed to be provided and for that to be routinely missed by the agency that has the largest budget in the city is just unacceptable,” he said. The councilman says the problem has been going on for months.

A Jewish employee has filed a complaint against his former employer, claiming that he was forced to remove his yarmulka during work.
He says that the firm allegedly gave him the anti-Jewish instructions, after getting a complaint from a client he was training.
Golan Levy, of London, is a martial arts expert and safety instructor. HIs employer, Securitas UK, a British security firm, allegedly told him to remove his head covering while training clients over Zoom.
In addition, he says that they told him to remove an Israeli flag that could be seen in the background during sessions.
The Krav Maga expert who is also an Israeli citizen, accused the firm of discrimination and hired lawyers to file a grievance over the matter.

Beth Medrash Govoha will reportedly be purchasing a property that belongs to the nearby Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ.
The goal of the purchase is to build low-cost housing for yungeleit.
The purchase of 44 acres of land by the country’s largest yeshiva will still leave the college with the majority of its 150+ acre campus.
The plan is to build about a dozen buildings and about 500 apartments on the site.
Georgian Court University is set on a magnificent 156-acre estate formerly belonging to financier George Jay Gould. After a long history as a women’s college with coeducational graduate programs and undergraduate evening programs, Georgian Court became fully coeducational in 2013.

A subvariant of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, known as BA2, has arrived in Israel and 20 cases of it have already been detected in the country, Kan 11 News reported on Thursday.
According to the report, BA2 is currently known to have even more mutations than the original Omicron, and as such, some scientists around the world have speculated that it may be more violent. However, at the moment this is only a hypothesis, and it is important to note that there is no absolute certainty and knowledge about this.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) alerted the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) on Thursday that it plans to require GOP presidential nominees not to attend debates run by the commission going forward.
"The RNC will initiate the process of amending the Rules of the Republican Party at our upcoming Winter Meeting to prohibit future Republican nominees from participating in CPD-sponsored debates," wrote Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel in the letter, which was obtained by The Hill.

Prosecutors are prepared to make major concession to Opposition Leader Benjamin Netanyahu in order to secure a plea bargain, according to report Thursday night by Channel 12’s Guy Peleg.
On Wednesday, Channel 13 reported that Netanyahu is engaging in negotiations with Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit for a possible plea bargain. Netanyahu is said to have agreed to Mandelblit’s demand that he resign from the Knesset before being convicted, and to leave politics for several years.

There is a common mentality out there, that all of the open miracles that Hashem performed in Mitzrayim to prove His existence, are very impressive. However, that was a very long time ago. All I need is one small open miracle today and I would believe in Hashem with all of my heart.
The truth is, however, that history clearly proves this mentality false. You see even WHILE the actual nissim were happening in Mitzrayim, still, not everyone believed in Hashem. As young students in day school, we are often exposed to a basic appreciation for some of the importance of how carefully every word in the Torah is used. Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of perjury related to a COVID-19 financial hardship withdrawal and a false statement on a loan application.
This comes amid an ongoing federal investigation involving Mosby and her husband, Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby, over campaign records.
