Baltimore, MD - Nov. 25, 2021 - The children of Cheder Chabad in Baltimore joined the community in celebrating a new sefer Torah, dedicated by community askan Ephraim Rosenbloom and his wife Ruthi, in memory of their son Gavi a”h, who passed away just over a year ago.
The celebration was attended by the regional head shliach of Maryland, Rabbi Shmuel Kaplan, the rov of Park Heights community, Rabbi Elchonon Lisbon, along with the cheder children, parents and community members.
For the women and girls, the day started with a special Yud Tes Kislev performance, organized by their principal Mrs. Chana Pewzner.

Adobe predicts total online sales for full holiday shopping season will hit record $207B, up 10% compared to last year
Consumers shopping online have spent $76 billion in November so far, surpassing last year's $63 billion in revenue generated during the same period, according to the latest data from Adobe Analytics.
Shopping on mobile devices has accounted for $31 billion of revenue generated, a 21.7% year-over-year increase, while shopping on desktops accounted for the remaining $45 billion. The data covers over one trillion visits to U.S. retail sites, 100 million SKUs and 18 product categories.
Online shopping for the grocery category peaked on Monday, up 172% over September's average. Wine is outperforming beer by 124% versus 100%...

The Michigan chapter of the Anti-Defamation League is accusing a Birmingham, Michigan politician of sending an email containing anti-Semitic tropes, the Detroit Jewish News reported.
In a message emailed to Birmingham residents before the November 2 election, Commissioner Clinton Baller accused another city commissioner, Brad Host, of being a “marionette of the cabal.” According to David Bloom, who ran for the Birmingham Commission, it also singled out Jewish families, claiming they influenced the election with their political donations.

A new study conducted by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests that drinking sugary beverages or being even mildly sleep-deprived could significantly increase a person’s risk of developing a serious case of the coronavirus and being hospitalized.
The study, which was released by the CDC earlier this month, investigated close to 500 confirmed COVID cases among US military personnel from March 2020 to March 2021, isolating possible confounding variables to compare cases which required hospitalization with those that did not.
A total of 93 hospitalizations for COVID-19 among Air Force personnel were matched up with 372 cases among Air Force service members which did not require hospitalization.

A top United States military general claimed on Wednesday that Iran will have the ability to build a nuclear weapon in the near future, adding that the US is ready with other options to prevent the country from doing so if diplomacy fails.

Following statements by Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef against Religious Affairs Minister Matan Kahana's proposed kashrut reforms, Ombudsman of the Israeli Judiciary and former Supreme Court Justice Uri Shoham called on Minister Kahana to summon Rabbi Yosef for a reprimand and to even consider removing him from his position as a halakhic judge.

release of Rabbi Schneur Zalman, the first Chabad Rebbe (also known as the
“Alter Rebbe” or the “Baal Hatanya”) who was released from prison in 1798. He
was imprisoned due to libelous information supplied to the czarist government
by opponents of the fledgling Chassidic movement. According to Chassidic
tradition, the Rebbe’s imprisonment was the earthly reflection of a heavenly
complaint that was lodged against him and the Chassidic cause which he was
promoting, and his liberation symbolized a heavenly green light for the
continued promulgation of Chassidus.

Following approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for use in children ages 5-11 and the Israeli Health Ministry's subsequent approval and rollout, Moreinu HaRav Chaim Kanievsky, Shlita, has called on parents to vaccinate their children against coronavirus.
The announcement follows Rabbi Kanievsky's meeting with three senior Israeli doctors who are continuously working to manage the coronavirus pandemic in Israel.

A high-ranking Israeli official has told i24news that the United States will be opening a consulate to deal with Palestinian affairs “soon,” Asharq Al-Awsat reports.

In my opinion, the roof of the Binyanei HaUma Convention Center in Jerusalem nearly blew off last night from the incredible energy generated inside. The occasion was a women's event I was privileged to host as part of Tzama, an annual Chasidic music festival. Yuval Dayan chose to sing "Vezkeini Legadel" (May I merit to raise [wise children]), from the prayer said over the lighting of the Shabbat candles.
