A senior Israeli defense official speaking on condition of anonymity said on Saturday that the US State Department was duly notified of Israel's intention to designate six Palestinian NGOs as terrorist entities, a move that appeared to take Washington by surprise on Friday.

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy said that the United States Postal Service was going to add 45 extra facilities to handle more packages ahead of the holiday season, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.
The extra facilities, which will be used primarily for additional shipping volume and package overflow, is a part of a larger effort by the delivery service to avoid delays that occurred last year during the holiday season.
“We’re going to kill it,” DeJoy told the newspaper.
Other initiatives that the Postal Service is taking include adding 40,000 seasonal workers and more than 100 package sorting machines.

The National School Boards Association issued an apology late Friday for urging federal authorities to target unruly school board meetings, a missive that spurred Attorney General Merrick Garland’s much-decried decision to bring in the FBI.

Jewish, Catholic and Anglican leaders in the UK have issued a joint appeal to parliamentarians to reject a bill that would legalize assisted suicide.
In a letter dated October 19, the three religious leaders convey their “profound disquiet” over the Assisted Dying Bill, a private members’ which had its second reading in the UK parliament’s upper house on Friday.

A suspect was arrested by the NYPD after an anti-Semitic spitting attack occurred in the Crown Heights area of Brooklyn, New York on Thursday evening, CrownHeights.info reported.

State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters on Friday the US is "concerned" about the announcement in Israel that 3,000 Jewish housing units in Judea and Samaria would be approved next week.
"We are concerned about the announcement of a meeting next week to advance settlement units deep in the West Bank," Price said in response to a question from Walla reporter Barak Ravid, adding that the US "[believes] it is critical for Israel and the Palestinian Authority to refrain from unilateral steps that exacerbate tension and undercut efforts to advance a negotiated two-state solution."

So, there I was, sitting in my office this past week, when all of a sudden, a middle-aged African American man came over to me, and asked me the following, “Do you know how to cook this?” I looked to see what he was holding, and it was none other than a Shefa brand container of Chummus. I was waiting for him to start laughing and tell me that he was joking, but after a few seconds, I realized that he was being completely serious. He genuinely wanted to know what to do with the container of Chummus and how to cook it.

As Maryland aims to boost immunity against the coronavirus, Gov. Larry Hogan announced those eligible for booster shots can "mix and match" their shots.
"Eligible Marylanders may now choose which vaccine they want for a booster, even if it is different from what they received initially," Hogan said in a statement Friday, Oct. 22.
This week, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its recommendations around boosters.
Previously, only some Pfizer and Moderna vaccine recipients were eligible to get a third shot. Now those who have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine can also get a booster, as well.

Queen Elizabeth II spent a night in the hospital for tests after being forced to cancel a visit to Northern Ireland this week, Buckingham Palace said Thursday.
"Following medical advice to rest for a few days, The Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits," a palace statement said.
Britain's domestic Press Association news agency said the trip to the hospital was unannounced as it was expected to be a short stay, and also to protect the 95-year-old monarch's privacy.
