While Democrats are claiming their massive spending plans are designed to help the poorest Americans, the “multi-trillion-dollar inflation bomb” is a “reverse-Robin-Hood mission” that will only serve a handful of the richest, according to Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah. “This inflation bomb that they are proposing, which some are estimating could involve $4 trillion, is only going to worsen the already frightening inflation,” Lee told Sunday’s “The Cats Roundtable” on WABC 770 AM-N.Y. “Inflation carries out a reverse-Robin-Hood mission, where we rob the poor to give it to the rich. A small handful of people will get rich off of this.” Lee was echoing the warning of former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, who told Newsm...

Jerusalem, Israel - July 26, 2021 - A striking image of a man dressed in a black cap and jacket, holding a bouquet of red flowers, is on display in Jerusalem, Israel's Municipal Plaza, Kikar Safra. One rolled-up sleeve reveals the numbers stamped on his arm. Moshe Haelyon was born in Greece in 1925, and with his family was transported in a packed freight wagon to Auschwitz. Haelyon is one of 360 survivors, from 35 countries whose portraits are included in the Lonka Project now on display in Jerusalem. Each unique brilliantly done image is accompanied by a short biography. For example, we learn after being imprisoned by the British in Altit for a year, Haelyon joined the IDF, retiring in 1976, and serves on the board of Yad Vashem.  Born in Konigsberg, Doroth...

BURLINGTON, VT, JULY 26, 2021 -- The Israeli-American Council (IAC) flew a banner over Ben & Jerry’s factory and global headquarters in South Burlington, VT reading “Serve Ice Cream, Not Hate,” the social media hashtag #BDSisHATE, and the American and Israeli flags as part of a campaign the IAC launched today demanding Ben & Jerry’s stop their boycott of part of the Israeli population. The flyover this past Friday kicked off a global advocacy effort that also features a social media campaign urging people to call on Ben & Jerry’s and its parent company, Unilever, not to align with the BDS hate movement targeting Israel, and to renew the ice cream maker’s license with its Israeli manufacturer. In recent months the IAC has become one of the...

(Please note the CHANGE OF DATE.) The convention has always been our organization's signature event of the year, bringing together our "Agudah family" for several days of chizuk, chavershaft and practical planning in the presence of many of the leading Gedolei Yisroel of our time. But even more than that: With so much happening on the contemporary Jewish scene – the unprecedented historic threat against the independence of our yeshivos; the alarming rise in anti-Semitism both in America and abroad; the rapidly deteriorating political climate in...
Former prime minister says country needs two million more doses so elderly citizens can get booster shot Israeli Opposition Leader Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the new government's handling of coronavirus vaccines during a Likud faction meeting in the Knesset. The former prime minister posted a video of his speech to Twitter, accusing the government of failing to bring millions of vaccine to the country already paid for so that elderly citizens can be administered a third dose to protect against the delta variant that has caused an uptick in daily reported infections. "They distribute jobs (referring to Yair Golan and Eli Avidar who were recently given cabinet posts) instead of distributing the third vaccine to Israeli citizens — that is the only way to save lives and keep...
Here are some shocking numbers: 7 people have drowned in the last 24 hours on beaches or in swimming pools in Israel; from the start of the bathing season, 22 Israelis have drowned, including 12 children; 133 have required medical attention and August is not yet here. There are a number of explanations for these tragedies: bathing in areas not designated as beaches; entering stormy waters; children going into the water without parental supervision, and others.I thought that the coronavirus would have changed our perspective. If we were so concerned about every patient on a ventilator, scrupulously counted every coronavirus patient and victim, and carefully adhered to social distancing and wearing masks -- how could this pandemic not have taught us to have greater appreciation for life unde...
A Dutch Jewish woman who saved the lives of hundreds of Jewish children during the Holocaust was honored in Amsterdam on Sunday. Seventy-eight years after Henriëtte Pimentel was killed at Auschwitz, she was awarded the Jewish Rescuers Citation at the Verzetsmuseum (The Resistance Museum), a museum telling the story of the “response of the civil Dutch population to the occupation by the dictatorial, racist Nazi-regime,” reported Dutch News. During the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, Pimentel ran an Amsterdam daycare situated across from the Hollandsche Schouwburg theatre where Jewish families where placed before being transported to death camps. The daycare successfully managed to smuggle many of their children out of the area in boxes and baskets. With Nazis po...
The Israeli government may impose a fourth lockdown, a senior Israeli health official warned Monday. Health Ministry Director-General Nachman Ash told the Knesset Channel Monday morning that a new lockdown may be imposed during the upcoming holiday season. “The upward trend of the number of new cases and also the number of seriously ill patients hasn’t changed,” Ash said, “so the possibility remains.” “I don’t want to get to that point, and I don’t think it is correct. It isn’t something we’re signaling, but we do expect to see a change in the trends.” “There is another statistic which has to be taken into account, and that is the number of people on respirators and in critical condition. Right now, there...

Conflicting mask recommendations and orders from all levels of government and advocacy groups have emerged over the past few weeks, flustering the public as back-to-school season approaches.   Confusion is mounting over whether children should wear masks in school and whether their vaccination status should play a role in any guidance ahead of next month, when many schools plan to fully reopen for in-person learning.  President Biden addressed the debate this week, saying during a Wednesday town hall that he expects the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to urge unvaccinated students to wear masks in schools and to continue to advise vaccinated students that they don’t need masks.  “The CDC is going to say that what we should do is, eve...

As Chaim V’Chessed has reported, several countries will join the Highest Risk list on July 30. Many student visa holders are currently vacationing in locations which will be added to the list, such as England, Turkey and Cyprus.
