Lt.-Col. G. expected to lead Military Intelligence Directorate’s artificial intelligence revolution
The Israel Defense Forces' (IDF) Military Intelligence Directorate (MID) appointed the first-ever female deputy chief of Unit 8200, the directorate’s main information gathering unit, reported the Jewish News Syndicate (JNS).
The 39-year-old Lt.-Col. G - who will be promoted to a full colonel on the assumption of her duties - has wide-ranging experience within the unit, having performed a variety of roles in the directorate’s cyber, intelligence and operations divisions.

In the battle against cyber attacks 'united we stand, divided we fall,' PM says
Israel’s Prime Minister Naftali Bennett called for the establishment of a “global cybernet shield” to combat the growing spread of cyber-attacks affecting individuals, companies and nations.
In a speech at Tel Aviv University’s Cyber Week, Bennett – displaying the airs of the tech CEO that he once was – suggested that Israel was uniquely placed to lead the establishment of such a program.

The delta variant of the COVID-19 virus is spreading like wildfire in certain areas of the country. Maryland is faring better, but there are also two other strains doctors are watching closely.
Maryland has recorded less than 100 cases of the delta variant as of last week, but the number of COVID-19 cases has gone up over the last two weeks.
"The delta variant seems to be the most commonly isolated virus from many of the samples right now," said Dr. Andy Pekosz, of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.And cases are on the rise across the United States, especially in areas with a large population of unvaccinated people.
However, in Maryland, the state health department reports 90 cases of the delta strain as of July 12.

It's been more than six months since the National Guard was deployed to the U.S. Capitol during the January insurrection, and officials of the Maryland National Guard say the federal government has not reimbursed them for the costs of keeping thousands of national guard soldiers in Washington, providing security at the Capitol for four months.
Major General Timothy Gowen says the Guard has had to cover those costs themselves, and they need that money back by the beginning of next month.

A close ally and former campaign adviser to former President Trump was arrested on Tuesday and charged with several criminal counts over allegedly working as an undisclosed foreign lobbyist on behalf of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Twitter suspended Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s account for 12 hours after saying she posted tweets violating its policy on sharing misleading information about COVID-19.
The company said the Georgia Republican’s account was to be suspended on Tuesday after she posted tweets Sunday and Monday that the company said contained misinformation about the disease and vaccines, reports The New York Times.

Baltimore County Inspector General Kelly Madigan issued her second annual report when she spoke with WBAL's C4 and Dan Joseph Tuesday morning. She said that her office, which consists herself and an assistant, received 83 complaints and opened a file on 14 of them.
Madigan believes her best contribution to the administration was the return on investment, and she calculated that her office costs each Baltimore County resident about 35 cents for the fiscal year 2021.
Regarding how some people view her and her office, Madigan said, "Compliance is not always popular…My job is to protect Baltimore County's taxpayers dollars...I try to do it fairly and respectfully, but sometimes I have to ask tough questions and that's what I was hired to do."

Tuesday marks the seventh day Maryland's new daily COVID-19 numbers have increased by more than 100 cases.

Ofakim - On Monday afternoon, just after 11 a.m., United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Tova Shtiglitz was finishing up a shift at the local Corona hotel in Netivot when she was suddenly alerted to a nearby medical emergency. United Hatzalah’s Dispatch and Command Center located Tova a three-minute drive away from the location of the emergency. A 70-year-old woman had collapsed in a cemetery and witnesses called for help.
Tova quickly decontaminated herself properly and jumped in her car. Arriving alongside volunteer EMT Avraham Sabag, the two attempted to enter the cemetery from the main entrance which was blocked and filled with people. An NYPD investigation has been launched into an act of vandalism that shattered the window of a Williamsburg yeshiva.
Sources told VIN News that the incident took place at the Viznitz yeshiva on the corner of Flatbush and Flushing avenues on July 15th and wasn’t noticed until this morning.
Surveillance footage released by Williamsburg Shomrim shows what appears to be a masked woman in a baseball cap taking a hammer out of her shoulder bag and banging it three times against a window of the school building until the glass finally breaks.

Some 1,372 new Coronavirus cases were registered in Israel on Monday – the highest since March - the Health Ministry announced Tuesday, as the authorities prepared to bring back the green pass system.
The coronavirus cabinet is expected to meet on Wednesday to discuss the strategy to contain the current outbreak.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz are expected to push to bring back the green pass for all indoor gatherings over 100 participants, in addition to the “Happy Badge” that will come into effect for weddings and parties on the same day, under the responsibilities of the hall owners.

When Moshe Rabbeinu davens to come into Eretz Yisroel, he is pleading with Hashem for a matnas chinam, a free gift. He has no claims and does not come with demands or expectations. When we daven, we need to remember that we are not entitled to anything; rather, we are relying on Hashem's graciousness. Our structure of Tefilah in golus is very different than our service in the Beis Hamikdash when we offered korbanos to Hashem through a dwelling place on this earth. Nowadays, when we turn to Hashem and ask Him to provide us with our needs, we recognize His singular power and create a throne for Him through our requests.

There has been much discussion of Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid’s speech before the 7th Global Forum on Combatting Anti-Semitism on July 14, in which he offered a new definition of antisemitism.
It is certainly true that slave traders who threw human beings into the ocean, and African tribes who slaughtered other tribes and Muslims who kill other Muslims are evildoers.
And that those who have hated and attacked and killed Jews over the centuries were and are evildoers too.
But to wrap all deranged murderers and haters into a neat malodorous package does a grave disservice to the most ancient, multifaceted and tenacious hatred, one that persists even into lives of Jews around the globe today. It does a grave disservice to history.

In Devarim 4:9 the posuk tells us one should be careful and guard your soul. In 4:15 the posuk says guard your souls very much. In Berachos 32b we learn from both these pesukim that a person should not put himself in danger. There are a number of circumstances in which the concept of sakana dictates what we do or don’t do.
