Fines for those traveling to so-called "banned" countries will reportedly be several thousand shekels Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz said on Monday that authorities were working with the transport ministry to expand testing for the coronavirus at Ben-Gurion airport after an influx of passengers on Friday overwhelmed staff and thousands of people were allowed into the country without being tested. He said the ministry is demanding more staff be hired to conduct testing and for the airport to reserve more room for the screenings. "The queues are already shorter, but that is not enough. We need to shorten them better, and especially prepare for the rush expected at the airport during the summer months," he said. He added that "very high" financial penalties will be imposed on anyone ...

Following the tragedy at Meron, EMT received new defibrillator and medical kit and used them to save a life in Beitar Illit on Sunday Beitar Illit - On Sunday night in Beitar Illit, United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Shlomo Caap was in the local synagogue attending a lecture when his communications device alerted him to a nearby medical emergency. A block away, right across from Shlomo’s apartment building, a 60-year-old man with no severe medical background suddenly collapsed in his apartment. A family member quickly called United Hatzalah’s Dispatch and Command Center as the man’s son-.in-law began attempting chest compressions with the guidance of the dispatcher on the line.  Shlomo quickly left his lecture and ran up a block with his vest and medical bag in hand, as...
A federal judge said Friday that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention can’t enforce its rules for coronavirus-era sailing against cruise ships in Florida starting July 18. The decision was hailed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) — who filed suit against the public health agency in April — as a “major victory.” “The CDC has been wrong all along, and they knew it,” DeSantis said in a statement, alleging that the agency was trying to “sink” the industry. “Today, we are securing this victory for Florida families, for the cruise industry, and for every state that wants to preserve its rights in the face of unprecedented federal overreach.” Under the 124-page ruling from U....
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis edged former President Trump in a weekend presidential straw poll conducted at the annual Western Conservative Summit in Denver. Mr. DeSantis received 74.12% support in response to a poll asking conference attendees to “vote for all candidates you approve of for President in 2024,” followed by Mr. Trump, who garnered 71.43% support, according to results issued Saturday. The survey of 371 respondents released at the end of the two-day summit offered an unscientific but intriguing glimpse at how conservative voters are leaning well ahead of the 2024 presidential race. Coming in third behind the two Florida Republicans was Sen. Ted Cruz, Texas Republican, who received 42.86% support, followed by former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo with 39.3...
Israel’s Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Sunday issued a warning to the Hamas terrorist group in his address at a state ceremony in Jerusalem commemorating Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers who perished during the 2014 Gaza War. “Our enemies should know the rules, and they should know that our patience is running thin,” Bennett said. “Those living in communities adjacent to the Gaza Strip are not second-class citizens. The residents of Sderot, Ashkelon and Kfar Aza are entitled to live in peace and security,” Bennett said, referring to both the rocket attacks and the continued incendiary balloons launched on southern Israel from the Hamas-controlled coastal enclave. “Our rivalry is not with the Gaza population. We have no intention to harm th...
In the dimly lit war room of the Romanian frigate Regina Maria, glowing radar screens illuminate a cheat sheet for identifying Russian vessels. The ship’s commander points to the newest warships, Grigorovich and Sviyazhsk, that have appeared on the horizon since Russia seized Crimea in 2014 and began to expand its Black Sea fleet. Romanian Cmdr. Alexandru Gobjila then points to older vessels, armed with the latest technology and weaponry, including supersonic Kalibr cruise missiles capable of reaching 1,600 miles into Europe. The Russian Black Sea navy now numbers over 200 large ships, all in a body of water twice the size of the Great Lakes. Vladimir Putin’s power projection in the region is designed to secure unfettered warm water access through a war o...
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that the Biden administration is preparing another round of sanctions against Russia over the poisoning of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Why it matters: The news of a potential new sanctions package comes days after President Biden warned Vladimir Putin during their summit in Geneva that if Navalny died in prison the consequences for Russia would be “devastating.” The state of play: The Biden administration has already sanctioned Russia twice this past Spring. In March, the administration announced sanctions against 7 senior Russian officials over the poisoning and jailing of Navalny. Then in April, it followed up with e...
Tzfat Chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu called Sunday not to purchase agricultural produce from Israeli Arabs in the aftermath of the violent riots in which a number of Jews were killed by Israeli Arabs during the Guardian Of The Walls campaign. In response, MK Musi Raz (Meretz) called on the Attorney-General to investigate the rabbi on counts of racial incitement. Rabbi Eliyahu had called on his followers to purchase only from Jews, stating that “we are after continued fighting against the Arab enemy who wishes to eradicate us, shooting at innocent people indiscriminately. We have seen that even within the country there are those who wish to kill us and not just in Gaza. “Thousands of Israeli Arabs threw stones at women and children because they are Jewish. We saw petrol bomb...
After Palestinian leaders refused to accept the vaccines sent by Israel over the weekend, claiming that they were close to expiration date, three other countries have reportedly asked Israel to send them the vaccines, according to the Haaretz newspaper. If an agreement is reached it will mirror the terms of the agreement with the Palestinians whereby Israel would be repaid from future vaccine shipments to these countries. The deal would need the approval of Pfizer. The Palestinians have not abandoned the possibility of a deal with Israel altogether but are seeking to receive vaccines which do not expire until the end of July. Israel had sent the original shipment of 100,000 vaccines out of a possible 1,000,000 to Ramallah in exchange for a part of the PA’s shipment expected lat...

There has been endless discussion and speculation regarding entry rules to Israel for students for the upcoming school year. Claims have varied widely; with some stating that all students will be allowed into the country. Other rumors have suggested that only vaccinated students will be allowed to enter Israel. Today, the Igud of Foreign Yeshivos & Seminaries, headed by the indefatigable Rabbi Nechemia Malinowitz, issued a letter regarding this fraught topic. In the missive, the Igud offers preliminary guidance to institution heads. Though not final, the Igud advises that vaccination or recovery from Covid will apparently be a requirement for students to receive visas for the upcoming school year. Recovered Covid patients will be required to present positive PCR tests&...
