The Elysee Palace criticized Denmark and Austria on Thursday for planning an alliance with Israel regarding the development of anti-COVID vaccines, believing that cooperation between EU members is the best way to tackle the crisis.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A package of police reform measures in Maryland with a statewide standard for use of force, expanded use of body cameras and greater public access to police misconduct records passed the state Senate on Wednesday.
A repeal of police job protections in a statewide disciplinary process that critics say have shielded authorities from responsibility in police brutality cases also was among the nine separate measures.
Police reform has been a top issue for Maryland lawmakers after the death of George Floyd in Minnesota last year and the nationwide protests that followed. Supporters described the package as a substantial step forward in addressing challenging policing issues, even if provisions didn’t always go as far as they wanted.

JERUSALEM (JNS) – Ninety percent of Israelis over the age of 50 have been vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19, said Israeli health minister Yuli Edelstein on Wednesday.
Seventy-five percent are eligible for a “Green Pass,” noted Edelstein, meaning that they received their second vaccine more than a week ago, or have recovered from the virus and have antibodies.
He continued to urge all Israelis to “follow the guidelines.”
One month ago on Feb. 3, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed a “national goal” of vaccinating at least 90 percent of the over-50 age group, saying this would be the key to successfully exiting the lockdown. At that time, 77 percent of those aged 50 or over had been vaccinated.

Realizing they lack a path to 51 votes, Senate Democrats appear ready to abandon a plan to add a minimum wage hike to President Biden’s $1.9 trillion spending package.
Senate Democrats said it’s now much more likely they will take up a wage hike in separate legislation and not on the broad COVID-19 spending package that they hope to usher into law.
“We are going to find another path, which we need to do,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a Connecticut Democrat. “Even though the parliamentarian has ruled and even though we may not have the votes right now, we will find another path.”

U.S. Capitol Police are increasing security after obtaining intelligence to suggest a "possible plot" by a militia group to breach the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, March 4.
"The United States Capitol Police Department is aware of and prepared for any potential threats towards members of Congress or towards the Capitol complex," they said in a statement Wednesday. "We have obtained intelligence that shows a possible plot to breach the Capitol by an identified militia group on Thursday, March 4."
The Capitol Police said that they "have already made significant security upgrades to include establishing a physical structure and increasing manpower to ensure the protection of Congress, the public and our police officers."
