All of us are acutely aware that Covid-19 precautions are part of our Purim preparations this year. We trust that you understand that keeping everyone safe and our treasured Yeshiva open and running are of utmost importance. Therefore, in order to maintain our "bubble", we must implement the following guidelines on our campus this Purim.
All of the Yeshiva's buildings will remain for the exclusive use of the Bnei Yeshiva and the Yeshiva Lane families. This includes the Botei Medrash during Davening and Krias Hamegilla as well as the Dining Room during the Mesibos.

Israel's parliament passed a law Wednesday allowing the government to share the identities of people not vaccinated against the coronavirus with other authorities, raising privacy concerns for those opting out of inoculation.
The measure, which passed with 30 votes for and 13 against, gives local governments, the director general of the education ministry and some in the welfare ministry the right to receive the names, addresses and phone numbers of unvaccinated citizens.
The objective of the measure -- valid for three months or until the Covid-19 pandemic is declared over -- is "to enable these bodies to encourage people to vaccinate by personally addressing them", a parliament statement said.

Dear Friends,
This winter, as Covid-19 swept through our household the biggest worry was, of course, keeping R' Dovid safe. Kent, his caregiver, valiantly volunteered to stay by his side for eighteen days straight, despite the risk of contracting the disease. His kindness and heroism, along with the help of friends and neighbors, brought home how much we are dependent on caring and compassionate people. We are forever indebted to our many supporters, some of whom we will never meet, but who have given of their time and money to sustain R' Dovid and our family. Although the purpose of this appeal is to ask for your continued support, I want to thank each and every one of you for staying by our side and keeping R' Dovid alive.

Israel’s flight ban has been extended until March 7. As has been well documented, limited flights continue to operate during this time. However, Israeli citizens or permanent residents are required to obtain special permission form the Vaadat Charigim (Exceptions Committee) to leave the country.
The Vaada has been exceptionally parsimonious with granting these permits. This, unfortunately, has affected persons traveling for bona fide emergencies, as well. Over the past several days, Chaim V’Chessed has dealt with dozens of requests for emergencies, such as medical needs, dying relatives and so on, which were either ignored or denied by the Vaada. We have been able to be assist in many instances, but at times we have been unsuccessful.

Defense Minister Benny Gantz slammed Netanyahu for allegedly trading doses meant for Israelis
The number of countries Israel is planning to send surplus COVID-19 vaccinations in exchange for diplomatic support has risen to 19, according to Hebrew media sources on Wednesday.
Nearly 100,000 doses in total are expected to be shipped outside of Israel, which were obtained earlier in the year by American biotechnology company Moderna, Israel's public broadcaster Kan News reported.

As many have inquired regarding the appropriate timing for the Purim Seudah this year, as it falls out on Erev Shabbos, I am presenting a short guide for everyone's convenience. 1 - There are many who encourage the eating of the Seudas Purim during the morning some time before Chatzos - 12:19 PM.
2 - Others suggest simply beginning the Seudah before Chatzos and continuing after into the afternoon.

Johnson & Johnson's single-dose coronavirus vaccine is effective at preventing moderate and severe cases of COVID-19, according to an analysis of the trial data published by the Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday.
The company's single dose vaccine is 66 percent effective, well within the agency's standards. The vaccine is also safe to use, according to the analysis.
More specifically, the vaccine is more than 85 percent effective at preventing severe cases of COVID-19 and completely prevents hospitalizations and deaths.
Overall, there were seven deaths in the trial, all in the placebo group.

As Maryland nears one year since its first confirmed case of COVID-19, Gov. Larry Hogan on Tuesday announced an agreement to boost the state's ability to monitor new strains of the virus.
The state has entered into agreements with the University of Maryland Medical System and Johns Hopkins Medicine to double its sequencing capacity. The state will now be able to screen and sequence 10% of all coronavirus cases.
"If Maryland were a country, it would rank us sixth in the world" in disease surveillance, Hogan said at a news conference.

Baltimore, MD, Feb. 24, 2021 — The Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), representing over 1500 traditional, Orthodox rabbis in matters of public policy, called today for the rejection of the Equality Act as “a direct attack on Jewish religious values and practices.” The Equality Act, H.R. 5, is slated for votes on Thursday in the House of Representatives.
In a letter sent Friday to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the CJV argued that according to the Equality Act, a person is deemed “bigoted” if he or she adheres to traditional Jewish doctrine.

Throughout the Coronavirus crisis, Chaim V’Chessed has worked hand in hand with Amudim, headed by the unparalleled Rabbi Zvi Gluck. Rabbi Gluck is a long time leader on issues related to international travel.
A particular area of concern has been the difficulty of US citizens in Israel to obtain or renew US passports, or Consular Reports of Birth Abroad. This difficulty is related to a worldwide slowdown in the issuance of US passports. It is further complicated by Corona restrictions which severely limit the number of citizens allowed into the Embassy.
Amudim and Chaim V’Chessed continue to explore solutions to these challenges, and several potential resolutions are being considered.
