Three veteran EMTs from different cities save a homeless woman in Tel Aviv this morning
On Sunday morning, just after 8:00 a.m. passersby spotted a woman sprawled on a mattress in an alleyway just off of Bnei Brak Street in Tel Aviv. Worried about her well-being, the concerned citizens called emergency services and requested assistance.
United Hatzalah volunteer EMT and ambucyclist Raphael Dan Michaeli was in the middle of his morning commute from his home in Ramat Gan to his office in Tel Aviv when he received the alert. He quickly switched on the sirens of his ambucycle and sped over to the location of the incident just two blocks away. Raphael arrived in less than three minutes.

A surprising drop in the number of coronavirus infections in a number of countries around the world has puzzled health experts, leading some to conclude that some populations may be starting to achieve herd immunity.

Family members of Osnat Ben Shitrit, the pregnant woman who died last night at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, opposed receiving the Covid-19 vaccine.
Ben Shitrit, 32, who was in her 30th week of pregnancy, died in the intensive care unit at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, and the efforts to revive the fetus also failed.

A bill to repeal the Law Enforcement Officers Bill of Rights moves to the Senate floor Monday night, but the bill's sponsor says what passed the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee keeps much of the current law in place.
The law was enacted in 1974 to protect the rights of officers accused of misconduct.
"What passed was a sham," said the bill's sponsor, Sen. Jill Carter (D-Baltimore City).
Carter sits on the committee that approved the revised bill by an 8-3 vote Friday night.
Carter told WBAL NewsRadio in a text message Saturday that the committee let Republicans and the Fraternal Order of Police reinstate most of the current law.

A 95-year-old former Nazi concentration camp guard was deported from Tennessee to Germany, authorities said Saturday.
Friedrich Karl Berger, who is a German citizen, was ordered to be removed from the U.S. in February of last year due to his participation in “Nazi-sponsored persecution” while guarding prisoners at a concentration camp in the Neuengamme concentration camp system in 1945, according to a statement from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel unveiled a plan on Saturday to allow people who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus to attend cultural events, fly abroad and go to health clubs and restaurants.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the plan at a news conference on Saturday night, saying those who have been vaccinated will be able to download the “green badge” in the coming days.
“The green badge is gradually opening up the country,” Netanyahu said.

Hamas said seeking release of prisoners, easing of fishing limits and sea port in Gaza
Israel has approached Egypt with a request to mediate in a possible prisoner swap with the Gaza-based Hamas terrorist group, Al Arabiya reported on Saturday.
According to the report, Cairo earlier mediate in recent talks between the Gaza terrorists and Israel and urged Jerusalem to allow concessions.

The COVID-19 vaccine is 95.8 percent effective in preventing infections, Israel's Health Ministry reported on Saturday.
The assessment was based on comparing the stats for Israelis who received both the prime and the booster shots against the data for those that did not receive the vaccine at all.

It's back to school on Monday for hundreds of Baltimore County teachers and staff. But unlike in other districts, county teachers have been left to find vaccines on their own.
No one has a firm grip on just how many teachers have gotten their shots, but vaccines aside, they plan to be on duty in only a few days.
“They just can't get the vaccines and they want the vaccines,” Teachers Association of Baltimore County President Cindy Sexton said.
But that may not be possible, and the teachers union knows why.
“There's just not enough. There are almost 9,000 educators alone, not to mention the other staff in the school system and people just can't get an appointment for a vaccine,” Sexton said.

Maryland state health officials say delayed shipments of COVID-19 vaccines should being to arrive here on Monday. Acting Assistant Health Secretary Bryan Mroz told WBAL News Radio this week that bad weather in Tennessee and Kentucky, where much of the vaccine is manufactured, has delayed shipments for clinics scheduled for next week.

Gov. Larry Hogan on Friday announced that 1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Maryland.
Maryland providers have administered 94.3% of all first doses received from the federal government, and an average of 27,796 Marylanders are receiving shots each day.
